Re: DSI Poly Evolver OR DSI Combo of MEK & Prophet '08

yeah now that I've had my P08 for a few months, it tends to be my go-to synth for bass...but i haven't gotten too far into morphing sounds yet - i've played a bit with it, but i tend to get frustrated with the LFOs...i'm not getting response from them as well as i had hoped...maybe i'm just not into...

Re: John Carpenter Synths

On the They Live soundtrack, is the sax a synth? i know there is a sound frequently used that sounds like a mix between synth harmonica and sax, but at the beginning - i believe its in the opening credits, there is a sax playing...just curious if thats synth too, or if they brought someone in for th...

New direction for me - would love feedback!

These are my very first attempts at using my Mac, and also trying out the pre-loaded garageband. I would love some feedback, as I am starting to really enjoy the sounds I'm getting out of it so far. They aren't perfect by any means, and the quality is compressed so they'd load quicker. Cosmic Earth ...

Re: NEW DSI MOPHO SYNTH KB VERSION COMING IN LATE APRIL

I have a prophet 08 and am a bit bored with it to tell you the truth. the mopho looks nice - but is it really just a small, noisey version of the prophet? i had played with the desktop module at GC a few months back and was not interested in it at all...i guess the key'd version won't make much of a...

Re: DSI Poly Evolver OR DSI Combo of MEK & Prophet '08

i LOVE my poly evolver keyboard. it is a glorious instrument, and i would go for that.... btw, i HIGHLY recommend the potentiometer version. it completely changes the synth, making it a million times better. :) What kind of differences does the PE edition of the poly evolver make, if you don't mind...

Re: John Carpenter Synths

yeah! i have that release from the splash band, it is indeed awesome. If you like that kind of italo-disco/horror movie sound... it reminds me a lot of the Friday the 13th Part 3 theme - that real cheesy horror disco sound, which is great. If you guys haven't heard that song, check it out - i think ...

Re: John Carpenter Synths

Micke - you might know the answer to this question more than anyone... on the final track "The Shape Stalks" on the official vinyl release of the halloween soundtrack, there are strings used that sound like they're breathing in/out with the bass drum, which i know sounds like the idea of side chain...

Re: Drum Synth Debate

Damn those are awesome videos. I think they might have sold me on it too. i actually love the sound of that second video more - the first one is kinda cheesy at this point - to me at least, but i think i've heard enough IDM/DUB - whatever boomkat.com is calling it this week kinda stuff. Its impressi...
