Re: How to Reset both Ensoniq SQ80 & SD1?
I dont have an idea about how to restore the factory banks but here is some info about resetting (initializing) the synths: ENSONIQ SD-1 : HOLD PRESET BUTTON AND PRESS SOFT #1 BUTTON (UPPER LEFT CORNER OF SCREEN). RELEASE BOTH, PRESS YES AT THE PROMPT. ENSONIQ SQ-80 HOLD THE RECORD BUTTON AND PRESS...

How to Reset both Ensoniq SQ80 & SD1?
I am wanting to try to reset both my Ensoniq SQ80 and my Ensoniq SD1. Anyone have any ideas? I don't have a manual for either, no disks or anything. I found on http://www.buchty.net/ensoniq/index.html#stuff that there is a linux program for the sq80 that allows the factory disk dump, BUT i don't hav...

Re: Sequencer FR Orb & MicroKorg MIDI THRU problem
The THRU jack just repeats whatever data is present at the IN jack. So in your case, it's sending the MIDI data from the ESX-1 to the Microkorg. Incidentally, the Korg Web site almost certainly has the Microkorg manual on line, if you poke around there. Thank you, i just picked up a book on MIDI an...

Sequencer FR Orb & MicroKorg MIDI THRU problem
This is probably totally easy to figure out and I'm just not seeing it - and if its clear as day, please don't make me feel any more stupid than I already do asking! I read thru the manual on the Orb, can't find the one for my microkorg anywhere. anyways - My Orb is controlling my Prophet '08. The O...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread
I just got in a like new Future Retro Orb from xibalba, and the transaction couldn't have been any easier. Extremely quick and easy to deal with, absolutely no trouble at all!

Re: KORG ESX-1 vs KORG microSAMPLER
I thought the microsampler was extremely limited and unintuitive in comparison to the ESX. I totally agree. I just picked up an ESX-1 yesterday, and already love it. I've already had fun recording a new track with it using the presets...which is impressive to me. I also played with the microsampler...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread
Not that he needs a kind word from me - but I just picked up a Korg EMS-1 from Z, and the transaction couldn't have been better.

Re: John Carpenter Synths
Damn Micke - you're input on this is awesome! This stands as one of my favorite movies ever. Its terribly cheesy, and I don't know anyone else among my friends or family that can stand to watch it, but for some reason I can't ever get enough of it. I've been asked many times why do I love synths, an...

Re: Help with Elka Rhapsody trouble

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!
Step one: there are no tricks and no rules for making music. Plenty of tips for how to EQ a bass, or how to add warmth to a signal, or how to arrange sound reinforcement to a room - these are all sciences. Everything outside that realm comes from you. wow - very, very well said. a definite +1 !

Help with Elka Rhapsody trouble
My Elka Rhapsody 490 string machine had been playing just fine, then out of the blue - it makes no sound! It powers on fine, when I really hit the keys I'll get a bit of sound registered on my mixer (visible by a green light), but nothing is really heard. Any ideas what could have caused this? How I...

Free 90's Electronica Mix
Not sure if anyone is interested but I was going through my CDs the other day, found a bunch of old school '90s electro stuff and thought I'd like to make a mix out of some tracks to listen to around the house. It came out sounding pretty good so I thought I'd put it up online for a little while to ...

Re: Drum Synth Debate
If I picked up a elektron machinedrum, would I need to keep my korg emx-1? does it blow the emx-1 totally away? the reason i like my emx-1 - i can turn it on, turn to a preset with drums i like, kill off the synth parts and start reprogramming the kit sounds to whatever i need. i LOVE the tap tempo...

Re: Drum Synth Debate
Most drum machines/modules on the market just don't do it for me. It's hard to explain; on a lot of them, it seems like everything sounds the same, there's little sound shaping ability, and it just gets old really fast. I want to be able to do something sort of like Terry Bozzio's Drawing the Circl...
