Re: Reengineering the Moog Source User Interface

Update: After a long battle with the new layout and several attempts to drill accurate holes, I had my Photoshop expert sis do a computer mock up of the layout and then had my machinest pal Justin drill me some holes in a nice thick piece of steel. Re: buying my first set of monitors

My usual two cents - I use Adam A7X's in my small, treated room at home and the bigger, treated control room at work. LOVE these monitors. Zero fatigue and GREAT translation!

Re: John Carpenter talks gear.

The interviewer left much to be to desired as well. Carpenter always comes across to me as just not giving a s**t. I can almost see his eyes rolling at questions such as these. If I remember correctly - in the interview book I have (John Carpenter: The Prince of Darkness) almost every movie he made ...

Nicely done, rjd2! Still bummed it didn't end up in my hands, but I suppose I've got enough projects on my plate right now!

Re: Reverb unit with cool small room effects

Live 60's and maybe 70's jazz Yeah man, its players/instruments, mic technique, and probably a little natural compression from the tape machines. But mostly its the players. Using artificial reverb to imitate natural room sounds is definitely one of the toughest things to wrap my head around most o...

Re: Reverb unit with cool small room effects

I've been thinking about this all week. Your reference to the live jazz stuff - probably what you're hearing is coming mostly from performance. If anything, compression on the snare smoothing out the natural room ambience. Can you give me an example for reference? The 'canny' reverb stuff - look at ...
