Re: 1st time synth buyer

If that Ion is really in 'New' condition, I think that would be a good buy. straight from the Craigslist add: "Full disclosure: the underside of one key is broken (see picture below), and the "OSC octave" buttons stay permanently lit - though both the key and the buttons work exactly as they should...

Re: Tips plz

I've come to the somewhat depressing conclusion that there is a very close correlation between bigness of sound and cost. Hahahaha, great signature! I'll quote you on that :) The MKS-70 is an interesting tip, thnx. I'll dive into that. In the meantime I am bidding on 2 matrix-1000's to create one s...

Ooh I totally didn't catch that it was an Ion instead of Micron, yeah that is a good deal. Either Ion or Alpha Juno could be flipped too for more than you spent if you decide against it.

Re: Don't sell your f**k gear!

I'm reluctant to sell my vintage gear, athough (like nadafarms said), you can usually find most with eBay these days. The MachineDrum is a great machine, but I have no regrets selling it late 2009 because I know I can get another one easliy. Feel free to sell anything that is still in production. I...

Re: 1st time synth buyer

The alpha juno 1 for $150 seems like a great deal, especially since it includes a case. Also, the 106 could probably be talked down to at least $350. They're not that great in my opinion.

Re: 1st time synth buyer

I'm a drum and bass and dubstep producer that is looking for a good synth that can make good sounding basslines while learning the basics of synthesis. I want to keep my budget between $300-400 US. I want to buy used, preferably off of ebay or craigslist; and here's what I've found: (In order of wh...

Re: The Price of Software Synthesizers

There may be something else involved: do we really need certain softsynths? I usually get the impression that every developer with half an eye for DSP jumps the bandwagon and keeps reinventing the wheel, you know, like washing powder: "but this time it's really really really white!", "and this time...

Re: The Price of Software Synthesizers

Expensive compared to what? How many man hours do you think goes into developing the software? What would be a reasonable price to you for each app? Just pricey in general, and like I said I don't think they shouldn't get paid, I just don't understand why something that has been out for years and u...
