Re: Virus KC vs Roland V Synth 2.0

I would tell you lean more toward the V-Synth. It gives you a broader spectrum to worth. Might be easier to work with in a live setting too. The Virus may be one of the best VAs ever, but I don't know if that will easily be able to encompass all of the different kind of genres you want to play.

Re: Analog Poly Synth

i've been thinking about picking up a tetra + controller... hmm If you get a really good controller like a Novation Remote (I have a Remote Zero) you can set up controls to be able to do much deeper editing than you can on the front panel of the unit. I made a template for my Mopho like the second ...

Re: What after the Yamaha CS-01 ?

...anyhow, you apparently pulled the trigger on the K-Station, and that too is a nice little device. Ask krzeppa; he just got mine... =) It's a fun little machine in it's own right. Enjoy... That is right, just got silikon's K-Station yesterday. I know I haven't had it very long, and I probably pla...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

Just bought a Novation K-Station from silikon . He was great to do business with. The synth was flawless, and his communication during the process was great! I would definitely buy from him again in the future.....especially if he decides he wants to get rid of that Andromeda. ;) He's a great guy, a...

Re: Decent workstation under $1000?

Kurzweil kicks arse for workstations, they sound amazing. You can get a new B-Stock PC3LE6 for $1100, I'd go with that if I were you. http://www.novamusik.com/search.aspx?type=Model&keyword=8152&mid=299&lbs=35 For some reason I always forget about Kurzweil...I don't know why either. I actually play...

Re: Decent workstation under $1000?

+1 on the Fantom if you are looking for strings, choirs, etc...I think that they do that the best. I would also take a look at the Motif ES as well. I like the synth sounds more on this than the Fantom. I guess it all depends what sounds you really need from the workstation. You could also look at a...

Re: Roland fantom or yamaha motif?

Many thanks, guys, for your responses - although i can't say that i'm any nearer to choosing! :) I suppose that i am leaning more to the fantom x6 (less expensive) but will take a closer look at the yamahas - and also the korg m3. But, with any of these, would i still need my midi keyboard to run m...

Re: Buying my first synth - DSI Mopho? Tetra?

I've been playing around with soft-synths, but I really, really want knobs. REAL knobs. might be better off going w/ the mopho keyboard first then. or a knobby controller for your softsynths... I agree, the Tetra and desktop Mopho don't really have a lot of hands on controls. They are both good syn...

Re: Roland fantom or yamaha motif?

I currently have an original Roland Fantom and a Yamaha MO8 (basically a smaller version of the Motif ES). I would have to say that I use them for quite different purposes. If I am looking for something trance-like or dance oriented, I go right to Yamaha. It can do the trance side of things very wel...

Re: "Best" (Recommended) Arturia Soft Synths

I would have to recommend the Modular or the Prophet. I find the Moog Modular to be a really cool softsynth. It has a really good sound, and is pretty fun to tinker around with. It can be little time consuming using it though, at least for me. It takes me a long time to get what I am after because t...

Re: Any Jupiter 8-emulation vsts other than Arturia's?

Are there any VSTs that do a good job of emulating Roland's Jupiter 8? I am aware of Arturia, but Arturia has a bad reputation of recycling oscillators and lag issues. I personally really like the Arturia version. I haven't had any problems with lag issues when using it though, but I guess that doe...

Re: Falling in love....

Personally, I think it's a better idea to fall in love with a musical idea, and see it through to completion with gear that may be flawed, but that you still enjoy using. Pretty much sums up the way I look at things....I really like using certain synths for certain ideas that I come with, but I can...

Re: Which headphones to take the role of monitors?

It's worth mentioning that the 7506s need a bit of getting used to, you may find that your mixes come out a bit bass heavy or dull due to the accentuation of the high-mids leading to you boosting the bass or cutting the high-mids. Any mixes on headphones will need to be checked against a few refere...
