I'd like to use my alesis sr-16 as a midi controller for my Roland sp-404. Since the sr-16 is footswitchable, I figure that theoretically this could work as a midi foot controller and would keep me from having to buy another piece of equipment. Are the mpcs pretty easy to learn on? I'm definitely a beginner with this stuff, so I'd like something that's made for people with little or no experience with samplers, like myself.
