Well of course not because they are DCOs and/or wavetable and digital LFOs. Just pointing out the basic functionality is there and can take you far beyond the functionality of simple VCO to VCO FM.

Just curious...What's the reason for filters inverting the phase?

Re: Prophet 12

I've been out of the hardware loop for a little time now (focusing on arrangements and mixing) I'm starting to get ye olde fever back! My heart and body tells me to get the original, vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 but my modern mind is telling me to try the new Prophet 12 or 08… I just can't...

Re: New analog Arturia synth?

Sure hope they put patch memory on this one, whatever it is I'd be with you but one quote on that page: For me, a Synthesizer that has no presets is an adventure every time. IT is a recipe for audio joy. IT soon becomes a real electronic instrument, that develops with your knowledge and expertise

Re: DSI Introduces the Mopho SE

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing that lots of analog synths are coming out, but they're all very similar 2VCO synths, noone is innovating in any way, they're only pushing out synths with features from vintage ones, or adding a digital oscillator, or 4 vs 1 voices, or a 1 voice spinoff of a big ...

Re: DSI Introduces the Mopho SE

Manufacturers really aren't interested in why people won't buy it. Plenty of people have said "I wish these monosynths had more keys" and DSI provided. Those people might very well buy it. If you don't want it, don't buy it. It's really that simple. But let's go ahead and question the product dev an...

Lots of modular and Carpenter/Goblin-inspired stuff in the Room 237 soundtrack.

Re: MOOG Minifooger(s)!

They also left off the pre-amps, which makes guitarists happy.
But yeah, they're only "mini" in comparison with the already oversized Moogers. They're not Malekko or Mooer sized.

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

Moog has already done that many, many times, as has been brought up--Moog guitar, iOS synth, iOS effects, Moog piano bar, poly synth...oh and an affordable, portable synth called the Mini!

Back to your question: It isn't just fanboy mentality. The Moog ladder filter makes for some dope drum sounds.

seriously, who thought putting only 4 knobs and no noise source on a monosynth priced at over 1k was a good idea?
Moog and all of the people who have bought it in its 7-year production run.

Re: Advantage of a monophonic synth?

I don't think timbre was mentioned. It's not an absolute truth, but often a mono synth tries to be big and juicy, whereas a thinner sound can actually be an advantage on a poly. Big thick Moog oscillators and filters are great for mono but can get muddy quick on chords--sort of like a hot humbucker ...
