Re: Difference between Frac rack and Euro
I wonder if Ikea is aware of their perfectly designed rack! I bought one last night, seems sturdy enough (for being pine). Did you buy rack rails GuyaGuy? It looks like your lower gear is inset into the table. It looks like I'll be going with the TipTop Happy Ending on the bottom. ;) The bottom row...

Re: Difference between Frac rack and Euro
I got a second, flipped it over and attached it to the first for even more space.Jabberwalky wrote:Great news pflosi! Looks like I'll be stopping there this evening
Then I got some casters so I can move it around when needed.

Re: Big Synthesizers and the Modern Apartment
Ikea stomen. It's a floor to ceiling pole so the weight goes to the floor, not the wall and they sell poles that you can attach a tiltable shelf to that has a lip on it. I'm pretty tempted to move my modular setup to something like this to take up less space. do you mean "Stolman"? The weird white ...

Ha, yeah, I feel like I over did it a bit already.analoglsd wrote:+1pflosi wrote:Looks good to me
I've got about half of those modules in my box as well.
Excited to hear how it goes.
P.S. don't browse any new modules for at least 30 days.
LOTS to play with for a good while!

Re: Modular: Silly start?
Thanks! And thanks for your input. Never would have thought to look for a logic module otherwise. And the modular grid site makes searching for modules a lot easier since they are organized by type rather than just company like on Analogue Haven.

Re: Modular: Silly start?
So all of this is either in the house or on its way except for the Pamela's... http://cdn.modulargrid.de/img/racks/modulargrid_30811.jpg I decided to go for the Doepfer A-166 for a logic unit since Spock is out of production. It apparently covers much of the same functions. I'm controlling this with...

Re: Unreadable LCD screens
The MP7 Command station has a nice setting for that, called (surprise) Screen Viewing Angle - you're good either directly on-top of it, or having it on the table in front of you, the screen at some 30 degrees or so, just go to global menu - misc, and tweak the angle. I was under an impression that'...

Re: Unreadable LCD screens
You've probably tried this and it only helps so much...But adjusting the contrast can help legibility on some screens when viewed from an angle.

Re: Evil Poly Pad Machine
I used to have this synth in my possession - I borrowed it in return for lending a punching bag. I still don't have my punching bag. :D I was looking at the P600 as a do-all synth, and it wasn't. I was able to coax excellent pad sounds out of it though! At the time I was using it (roughly 13 years ...

Word. All of the talk of frying modules had me super cautious so I wanted to make sure I understood. Thanks for your help.

Re: Modular: Silly start?
Whoops, I edited my post from the MW post and flubbed it. Anyhoo, the HEK actually has 2 16 way cables, a top and bottom one. So they're both essentially the same? http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn.volusion.com/nqrze.qngsf/v/vspfiles/photos/TipTop-Happy-Ending-Kit-Silver-2.jpg?1342533446 I guess I...

Re: Modular: Silly start?
Posted this at Muffwigglers but with no response. I guess no one reads the sticky on power supplies. ;) Maybe you guys can help... I'm new to the bipolar power supplies that Euro uses. I get the -12 issue (making sure that the pins match, not just the red stripe, etc.) about and was careful about ho...

Re: How is a Juno 106 different than JX3P/ JX8P?
Basically the 106 has fewer features but is knobbier. (Full specs on VSE and Wikipedia.) To me they all sound fairly similar--that Roland DCO sound. But the JX-3P and 106 are closer; they use the same filter. http://analog.no/cms/index.php/roland-custom-integrated-circuits The JX-8P has a different ...

P.S. Sorry for semi-hijacking the thread but I thought other VSE-ers would be interested.
