Re: Alesis are making the first ever MIDI Keytar
After over six years of active forum use, and being subsequently banned (twice) from one of them (micechat) for "trolling", the direction of this thread is an example of why I still wholly respect VSE forums 5 years after I joined. It might sting if you're a new user (I knew the feeling), but after...

Re: Attn: Studio People / Re: Click Tracks
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I think it can ruin the "organic"-ness of it. It really depends on the music. If you're playing jazz or even rock, you often want the music to speed up and slow down, which few people will try to do with a click track. But if you mean they can't play a single bar o...

Re: Akai AX-60 vs. Juno 60
I hate to say it but I'm starting to agree with Some of Sexor's points. When I first got it I was pretty happy, but I think I was mostly happy just to have a VCO poly again. Now that I got a Prophet 600 again the Akai barely gets used because it sounds kind of weak in comparison and most of its soun...

Yeah I don't think Internet-ready stomp boxes are the wave of the future.

Re: The great official thread of the Prophet-5
Pillip Glass is a true genius. I should look up more of his stuff. About ten years ago I got a CD that included some stuff from Einstien on the beach, and some other stuff done in Sanskrit or something. After watching this I can't help but wonder if he was the inspiration for Sideshow Bob. The one ...

Yup, kudos to them for making something that is analog and agressive.

Re: Pros / Cons of Effects Processors
1. Analog tones 2. Hands-on tweaking 3. Using the real-deal effects that are classics--analog delay, ring mod, etc. (And some people specifically want an even more specific sound like the EHX Memory Man sound, Moog ring mod, etc.) 4. Recording fx into an amp and micing the amp 5. Avoiding unnecessar...

Re: Thoughts on possible synth purchase
Sell everything except the Ion, buy a V-Synth. Probably one of the best synth action keybeds ever made, nice VA, fully programmable polyphonic arpeggiator, killer sample mangling for radiohead-esque cut up sounds. Ticks all your boxes. Tis indeed awesome. But even the old one is $700-800. Then agai...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth
It's called the Minibrute because there's going to be a polyphonic BigBrute version and it's gonna cost less than a grand.
It must be true because I just said it.
