Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
I feel like my filter doesn't step that much... maybe it's the getting I use. It all depends on the resonance and cutoff setting. The res is at noon in that clip so you can hear it distinctly. But if you drop it to 9 o'clock you don't notice it. In the same way, if the res is high but cutoff really...

Oh you're probably right.Micke wrote:I'm pretty sure the Crumar performer, like most stringers, uses top-octave divide-down oscillators rather

Yeah, string/brass. Didn't know if OP wanted to include VCO stringers or not.themilford wrote:
The Performer is just a string synth no?
It has some modulations, but if the Polymoog is on the blacklist these should be as well, no?

True but they are still VCO poly synths and go way beyond typical string synths.themilford wrote:GuyaGuy wrote:Crumar Performer

Re: New DSI instrument!
Join us ... join us ... join us ... I know the feeling. I put it off as long as I could, telling myself it sounded thin, was too limited, etc. Then I got my hands on one and it was all over. Sigh ... The gear budget for this quarter is shot! I'll probably be selling some guitar gear that hasn...

Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths
For example, my favorite analog synth is the P600. When I write for it, I have in my head that it doesn't do mono but it does do unison The P600 will do mono. Hold one key down and flip the unison mode switch up. Bang! 1 voice mono. It will also do chord memory this way too. Hold down three octaves...

Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths
Good points up in this s**t. To "trust your ears," I would add that sound is just one aspect of an instrument. There are other reasons to get along with an instrument, the main one probably being usability. I had to get rid of one of the best-sounding guitars I've had--an Electra Outlaw--because it ...

Re: Moog LP expression control for filter
Sorry guys...let me clarify... I am using my little phatty specifically for bass. I am the bass player. I have used an MF101 with a stringed bass previously and it was quintessential to my setup. Right now I am not playing an actual bass, so any bass playing is coming from the LP. I just want to be...

Re: Moog LP expression control for filter
I don't think he wants to put electric bass through the LP, just he's used electrib bass + MF-101 + expression in the past, liked it, and wants to have similar foot control for synth basses? Oh I thought I'm primarily using my LP for bass meant "I use the LP primarily as a bass synth." No wonder so...

On that note, any suggestions for sturdy expression pedals other than the EP2? I've had a few of them and they always break after a short period of time.
The DOD FX 17 has CV out and it is pretty robust.

Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths
good points- I was nervous forking over the dough for my Voyager Old School, due to the online forum random gear nuts that described it as lacking mojo and "sounds nothing like a true mini"- balderdash- sounds like Moog, sounds amazing, blows speakers just fine ;) Yep, that's a perfect example. I'v...
