Re: Moog LP expression control for filter
No need for a second filter unless you want one. Just hook up the MP-201 or any other +/-5V CV pedal to the LP's filter jack and sweep away.

What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths
One thing I've noticed is that when people talk about synths and their pros and cons, it seems that they are often comparing them to some Holy Grail of synths that doesn't actually exist. This is especially the case when the talk is analog synths--and even more so when the topic is polys. Just as an...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
I'll try to do a quick demo of the LFO, "zipper" effect, and envelope speed in the next couple of days.

Re: New DSI instrument!
Ever played a cello, flute, or even sung anything? Ever hit something with a stick and wondered what you could do with that in a piece? Ever listened to the noise a train makes as it cools down between stops and imagined melodies and rhythmic structures around that? Ever tried to make a piece of mu...

Re: Can't quite decide between Future Retro's...
Well haha don't get me wrong! I LOVVEE the Tb-303 and even Acid House for the matter! Have been very much into both since Freshman year of high school. Though, I doubt I could successfully harvest that organic Acid sound into the music I'm trying to make. Luke Vibert has pulled it off a few times h...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
...mod wheel-controlled filter sweeps by using the Moog MP-201 which you can plug into the CV in. Another budget option, if you have (fairly minimal) DIY skills is to wire a 9V battery (the P-600 CV In wants 0-10V, but it's close enough) up to a cheap volume pedal. Et voilà, smooth filter sweeps, a...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
Quick question about the MP-201... Let's say I have a patch on the P600 that I need to have S&H being supplied from the MP-201... is there any way that when I call up the patch on the P600 that the MP-201 would automatically call up that effect? Or is there a re simple workaround... often in the co...

Re: Can't quite decide between Future Retro's...
I know this may sound a bit Cliché, but, I'm plan on trying to achieve some kind of retro 70's/80's, Boards of Canada sound. Perhaps even a bit kitschy seeing as how the drum machines I'm looking at are those vintage, Waltz, Samba and Foxtrot drum machines from the 60's, 70's and early 80's. My dre...

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
Glad to hear the word 'smooth,' Orlando56. And Guyaguy - the 'inherent grittier tone' is definitely something I find in the P5 as well. Sounds to me they could be pretty damn close in tone and timbre. Feature wise, I've made a short list of differences on the P600 vs the P5 POLY-MOD section - No 'P...

Teenage Engineering: New stuff at NAMM
Love 'em and/or hate 'em...They really know how to create a buzz.
EDIT/SPOILER: The vid just shows them making a tray. So don't blame me for wasting 2:16 of your life.

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
Yeah, his stuff is great - the second video comes close to demonstrating what I'm looking for, but he's moving the knobs to much! Based on what I'm hearing there, it seems the P600 may not be able to get out of 'fuzzy' territory, even with the filter set low. The P5 filter has a sweet spot that cle...

Whoops I think you're right, now that I'm listening with headphones instead of laptop speakers.optimus prime wrote:I'd say there's pitch or high resonance filter modulation there too. Volume modulation is kinda questionable actually.
One thing is certain: Stereolab is awesome.

LFO modulating volume for a tremolo effect. Pitch wheel to do the dive.

Re: Prophet 600 VS Juno 60
I guess those who wanted more from their Prophets have splurged on a P5. But now that those are in la-la land pricing, we may yet see some OS upgrades. How much deeper is the P5 on features? I've not had a P5 but it seems like it's more feature swapping than deepening. (You lose a voice and MIDI bu...
