I can't help you with those soft synths... But maybe there is some effect added to the sound?
On second thought, I do feel like there is a ressemblance with the intro from "Night Boat". Maybe it's a reprocessed excerpt?
Good luck with your project!

Re: Help with Duran Duran's "Rio"
Yes, this track still has multiple layers, which none is available as stand alone: it's pretty lucky that this song (and some others) are on YT with separate layers, although not to every single tracks. The portion you want shows at least 3 subparts: the clap sequence, a pad and the spacey thing. I ...

Re: Help with Duran Duran's "Rio"
There is at least 10 seconds before the sax comes in (around 2:36 to 2:47), so it should be enough to figure out what's there. Unless you're searching for something else?

Re: Name some underrated/hated synths that you like
My vote: Analogue Solutions Leipzig & Telemark This is pretty far from the OP's value of near $500! And they are still manufactured today, leaving them a chance to get more attention in the future. Maybe they are underrated because they just don't circulated enough for more people to see and try th...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!
I've recently had a rather pleasant time hearing a ebay person at a software conference here (...) trying to explain why they had removed the wildcard search... Would you care to elaborate on that? The only way I'd be pleased to hear an ebay person would be if he involontarily pooped his pants on s...

Mine is still ok for now (lucky me!).
Maybe not all the chips were wrong? Like some batteries that still last after 30 years, maybe some batch were better than others... But you are right: the risk is there!

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
I'd sell mine right away for $800! And I'd still be a little shocked if it sold...
Do not despair: it can't sell at such inflated price. Unless it's mint-wrapped in the original box, there is NO justification for a 106 over 1K if you just want to play with it.

There is nothing new in my gear, unless you count cables & power bars. So I can't even answer this poll...
