Re: I just realized what I want - A true hardware Maschine
it doesn't say whether it's just a controller or not..... and the tagline says "music production controller". Therefore, it would appear it's maschine with audio i/o and will likely cost $2-300 more (at least).

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!
Yeah i get the whole "get out and grab it" routine. Id take off work and drive out there and figure out a way to get it home. No email response yet, so id bet its fake, but we'll see. My scam sniifer doesnt work on things like this. Every pic of an arp 2600 looks like a stock photo and every cs80 th...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!
Thanks. The trade part interests me the most since it doesn't appear they've set their goals very high.... saw both of these this morning: spv-355 - since it has cv/gate inputs, is this usable as a simple monosynth? that'd be real cool..... http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/msg/2777933781.html :sho...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
I thought the point of the clip was to offer us a "reference" of what the recorded sound is like, and it sounds like id expect a dx7 to sound. Therefore, my conclusion is what i originally offered, that we're arguing over some sort of subjectivity rather than a quantitative lack on any piece of hard...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
Listening to the clip on my phone, theres bits that sound clear and crisp (like i think a dx7 should) and that strikes me as primarily the first parts of the clip. Im not sure where it divides between whats going through the mixer, but there were parts that seemed slightly distorted and reverby whic...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
Low gain and tinniness does sound like somethings out of phase, but i would think thatd be a lot more severe than what youre describing. Additionally, if you plug a ts into the output of the behringer, wont it be a low impedance signal anyway? Is the argument that its just not "low enough"? Consider...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
I may be totally out of line, but i was under the impression that behringer mixers use a digital bus. Thats how they can offer them so cheap and why as a general rule they arent considered accurate representations of the inputs. Please correct me if im wrong. Just sharing what i thought i read from ...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
The point is that you have a mixer that is deliberately intended to be "warm and musical" a direct quote from behringer. You do not want a mixer that flavors the sound in any way. Is it possible that when you monitored the output of your interface you plugged it into a line level input or the like t...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
ah - "3 band british EQ". That there be your answer - the mixer is intended to color your sound. It's a bit of a cheap digital frill to attempt to make the mixer sound good. It's no different than using a vst of similar quality. Yet- if it sounds good, it sounds good so go for it. http://www.behrin...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
The 0404 is actually a pretty nice interface. Sounds like you're distorting it when you go through the mixer and you like the sound of that, and you're missing the distortion when you're recording direct. Plug the outputs of the mixer into the interface and see how that sounds. exactly. that's the ...

Re: An interface with decent inputs
Mainly because I actually doubt that the mixer colors the sound so much. It does. I HATE my behringer mixer (and room acoustics) for exactly that reason. It makes everything sound cold and dead. I have the e-mu 1616 (which are the same ad/da converters and pci card as the 0404) and I constantly giv...
