Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

I think you just like disagreeing..... ;) its a little rough, but I also think his camera sucks and given they're pretty easy to turn at $1400, I think $1k would've been a great BIN. If you let it bid, I strongly doubt it'll go for less than that.

Re: New to synths, advice?

have you spent much time with vsts and soft-synths? the best way to learn what's what as far as synth architecture goes is via soft synths. then you'll know what your performance needs are. I'd say the biggest hindrance to learning synths is the immediate accessibility of controls and having to dive...

Re: The Big Three

I just thought based on word that tyros 4 was the top of the workstation heap. i wouldn't know what's what as far as that goes though. if you're looking for a flexible sample based synth that also doubles as a workstation, I think you're limited to the motif since the others don't seem (not an owner...

Re: equipment that instantly inspires workflow

I have to say any good sequencer, arpeggiator or the like. Latch an arp and away you go! A good sampler can also be the night and day difference between doing nothing and being inspired. Also, just fooling with the i/o on your mixer or audio interface may be just what you need to get that circle of ...

Re: Need Yamaha DX-7 keys. Best source?

How come they look sketchy? I'm looking for 2 black keys for a DX7 myself... some people don't put a whole lot of effort into their web design, they just want to get the point across. I got a key from him (because the price was so stinking cheap i could afford the risk) and it arrived promptly, in ...

Re: Ultimate Sound Design via Synthesis!

errrr a VCO? ... ... :) no, I kid. id' say it's more the ability to patch something in and re-sample it that has more of an effect for sound design than actually "having a modular" like some elitist anas. I use the intellijel mu-scale basically every time I turn the dern thing on. and the more seque...

Re: do you think MIDI interfaces are going obsolete?

They're already totally reliable, any unreliability you may have heard of was most probably people who don't know how to configure their computer for making music. I would expect the moderator of this forum to be a little less condescending. Claiming that users who experience syncing/timing issues ...

Re: Ultimate Sound Design via Synthesis!

My favorite for that sort of thing is probably the one most often overlooked is the technics sx-wsa1. ultra powerful but also immediately gratifying. dx synths are uber-powerful as well as wavetable synths, the sx-wsa1 and maybe yamaha ex5 are the most fun to just get down and dirty with. that and t...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

I hear what you guys are saying but given you could put one on evil-bay for $1500 and it'd be gone within hours, I think anywhere in the ballpark is pretty solid considering it is a lock-down value. under $1k is definitely ideal. additionally - I expect prices to be on the up again since the only ch...
