Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

Gone. I just called and he said he sold them already for "well over a thousand bucks". Yeah well. My money will go back to paying bills (like it should have). I AM a little irritated though considering I was very friendly and he didn't even bother to call to say he was selling to someone else. Whate...

Re: Juno 60 is missing one voice when VCA is set to Gate

this is the only service manual i could find: http://www.4shared.com/document/aQVMQkaP/Roland_Juno-60_Service_Manual.html did you fire it up in the calibration mode, and if so, is there any "incongruencies" there. the only other thing I'd do is mess with all different kinds of envelopes and press do...

Re: fizmo psu

this should work (heck it's the one I just bought for my fizmo, so we're both getting fried if it's wrong):

As garranimal said, there's no polarity on an AC power supply.

Re: a teenage boy's perspective on vintage synthesizers

How can you not love Van Halen after this?

"well, hog my hooter!"

additionally, I think it'd be more productive to point out synths that haven't been billed in internet ads as capable of doing jump.

songs with ridiculous synthy distortion

I can't get over "Waters of Nazareth" by Justice. When I listen, I think of the hardship my speakers must go through just to reproduce the sound. Just wondering if any of you other music geeks out there know of other songs with just ridiculous throaty distortion across the whole dynamic range. I can...

Re: New Synthpop Bands You Like

synthpop is one of those odd genre monikers I don't really understand. If it's mainly a synth and 4/4 or thereabouts I say it's fair game. anyway :) We Have Band - this whole album is grand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib8isDJtv1w&ob=av2e austra (i'm not sure what the semi-naked interpretive danc...

Re: Studio Setup Help

the quickest and cheapest way I know of to do this is something with a high sample rate and optical i/o. best thing that comes to mind is e-mu 1616. you'll get two optical i/o's so that's 32 channels (with two adat expanders). that would cost $5-800. don't overlook the importance of power control. I...

Re: I want a drum machine (and a sampler?)

if you need a drum machine AND a sampler, I'd pony up for an electribe esx-1. Nothing beats it at the price point, and it's only 100ish more than your previous limit.

Re: What affordable analogue poly synths are out there?

big ups anytime there's a kawai sx-210, sx-240 mention. unfortunately the populace seems to think they're laced with solid gold. ugh. If you need analog poly and can't afford VCO's, I say go with the cheapest one you can nab. oberheim matrix 6. juno-106. alpha juno 1 or 2. jx-3p. jx-8p (my favorite ...

I wasn't picking on you personally (edit: actually I clearly was picking on you personally, but didn't intend to. meant it as a general rule), just pointing it out as a generalization. Most that complain about the quality of software synths are running junk setups otherwise. Our monitoring setups ar...
