Controlling the tetra.
Ordered a DSI tetra but noticed in the manual it advises not to use midi and usb at the same time. How do people Edit them with the sound tower software and play them at the same time? Ignore the manual and just use usb and midi at the same time? or use midi ox or something? With the latter do you g...

Re: Analog sampler?
Anyone every heard of a laser disc? They were analog? Could you record and store analog samples optically? The reason we use digital samplers is because it's a method that works, really well. Why try to reinvent the wheel just so you can say 'this sampler is analogue'? Analogue doesn't mean better, ...

Re: synth values?
Yea I have to agree that despite what you think of them, the 60's and the 106's go for around $800 give or take, depending on condition.

Re: ESQ-1 vs K3 vs DW-8000
Here is some SQ80 goodness I made just for you, VSE. Actually, it's super rough and poorly played. I just wanted to throw together a few patches of mine real quick to show you some of my favorite type of sounds I make with it. These patches are all esq-1 compatible, meaning, you could make these ex...

Re: ESQ-1 vs K3 vs DW-8000
The ESQ does have better modulation possibilities, but i wouldn't call it a mod matrix, considering that there are entries for the modulation sources and values at each destination... Well, it may not have the text book definition of a "mod matrix" but what it has is essentially the same thing. It'...

Re: ESQ-1 vs K3 vs DW-8000
270 sounds pretty good to my ears, though you probably live in a different country, so the real value of things is different. So by serviced, they mean the battery's been changed? Obviously if on ebay check the sellers feedback. If your going to pick it up, check it out for defects before you hand o...

Re: ESQ-1 vs K3 vs DW-8000
-I have an ESQ 1, they're quite good. -Make sure you buy one that's had the battery replaced. -The Esq 1 is a h**l of a lot more common then the K3 and the DW 8000. -The ESQ-1 has a very very extensive modulation matrix, even compared to a lot of modern synths. I can't really comment on the other tw...

Re: Attack Pressure?
Yea the VSE review only mentions the keyboard had velocity. Thus the confusion. I like to play acoustic piano and generally find it pretty difficult to get expression from electronic velocity sensitive keyboards. With piano I think dynamic expression is achieved mainly through how fast and how hard ...

Attack Pressure?
I know what aftertouch is (how hard you press the keys down) and velocity (How quickly you hit the keys), but reading an old SOS review of the Yamaha An1x, I've stumbled across the term "Attack pressure". The review reads: "(the keyboard has) a full 61 notes (five octaves) with aftertouch (attack pr...
