Re: JX-3P VS Polysix
@Dr. Phibes Yeah, what the upgrade adds does seem like it'd be extremely useful to me. One thing I'm wondering about is, do you have a PG-200 and how do you go about changing the extra new parameters? Is it a case of having to do it via the input buttons/data slider or can any of them be controlled...

Re: JX-3P VS Polysix
@Dr. Phibes Good to know the KIWI mod is worth it. I bought the 3P from Modeless Factory and he said he'd install KIWI for no labour charge as he's overhauling the synth anyway. It is ~€200 extra though. I was considering waiting til I get the synth and seeing how it is without the KIWI mod first t...

Re: JX-3P VS Polysix
I got both too and I think you made the right decision going with the JX-3p. The polysix is great but limited and I don't think it would add much to what you already have. The 3p isn't a Juno and it probably won't do what people love in Junos as well but I offer a much broader sound pallet. I can vo...

"Train" was the best DX7 preset. Always appropriate.

Re: Money Mark's Minimoog Trick
Poor Money Mark
I think he was playing to the camera a bit in the Moog documentary. As others said it seems he had just plugged a shitty little mic into the mini's external input, possibly through a distortion pedal or something.

Good to see they've listened to the public and done something about the minibrute's unwieldy size.

Re: Synth spotting: Alicia Keys interview
Still feel a CS80 in her studio is a bit of a waste! Haha what a shame it's in the hands of a talented recording artist who might use it on popular records and widely appreciated music instead of sitting in a dungeon having covers of the blade runner soundtrack played on it endlessly. Yes, that is ...

Re: Roland SH02 or Korg ms20 mini
I love how everyone says that 'difficulty repairing SMT circuits' is a reason to avoid modern gear. I solder SMT stuff with a 12 year old, So that's how Korg keeps the price down ;) But yeah, I'd so go for the SH-2 for that price. There's something about all those early SH's that I can't get enough...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
Heh, beat me to it too ... what's crazy is that it sold for $2200. Granted it was in nice shape, but with the new rereleases out, just don't understand that purchase ... :? With the arrival of the Ms-20mini I've noticed two separate trends emerging: a) those who say ok, I suppose people can pretty ...

turn that damn thing on a tell me how it sounds. thats really all that matters..... I try to tell myself that but deep down I find it impossible to fully ascribe to such a view. For a long time I hoped and worked towards being an architect and I've always had a keen eye for industrial design...

Re: Clavinet sound
I think there was some rational behind it. Baroque instruments were enjoying a revival during the early to mid 20th century. The war interrupted production but demand began to grow again in the 1950s. I guess the idea was to produce smaller, cheaper imitations of otherwise expensive hand made instru...
