Re: Korg EX-800 labelling
They just shortened the word "synthesizer" in a different way than we normally do today. They kept the "e." So it became "synthe" rather than "synth." That's the only explanation I've ever been able to come up with. I get the impression that people who speak Japanese as a primary language have a pr...

Re: Moog Theremini
I was under the impression that the Theremini sound generation was entirely software-based. But on the Moog website it says that, when pitch-correction is disabled, it uses the heterodyning oscillator. So is it essentially a traditional analog theremin with the Animoog software as an added bonus? T...

Re: Moog Theremini
Not just a hardware version, a modular version. With CV modulation inputs and outputs, so you could output the XY path from the Animoog, and modulate it with CVs. The Theremini just seems to be something to make every thereminist hate moog with a passion that burns like holy fire, and doesn't reall...

Moog Theremini
No topic on this one yet so here goes. I was ready to blow this one off until I saw the bullet points; "With 32 built-in sounds derived from Moog's Animoog synth engine , the Theremini gives you a wide sonic palette to experiment with. From the classic '50s sci-fi sounds of the original Theremin to...

Re: What do you want from Moog?
I'm surprised nobody likes my Moog with ___ spaces of Eurorack or Moog with a built in MP201 ideas. I feel like those are flipping home runs and I expect a court case based on myforum posts in the next few years. Seriously, the MP201 is an amazing gadget, it just suffers from a steep learning curve....

Re: What do you want from Moog?
to me the whole "modular is better" is kind of a pedantic argument. It has more flexibility of course. But that does not automatically make it better. Using my tired old bass guitar analogy, this is like saying a 5 string bass is better than a 4 string bass. Nope. They are just different! While you ...

Re: This is what Moog needs to reissue
The frequencies of the resonators on the Murf aren't fixed, they're CV controllable. which Murf are you talking about? I should clarify, not individually controllable, but you can move the whole lot up and down with the sweep CV input. The LFO can wiggle the freqs as well. It does not quite amount ...

Re: What do you want from Moog?
Of course a modern Voyager does not sound like a vintage Mini. But seriously the differences are far smaller than the similarities. I do not own a Voyager or an original model D. But I have had both in my studio on extended loan. They are both the same axe as far as I am concerned. The same way a 65...

Re: What do you want from Moog?
A decently sized modular blows the Voyager away so hard it's not even funny. IMO something is strange about those Voyager oscs. except whatever patch storage you have on your modular is local to each module, and not global. The Voyager has a few warts, but being a Mini with patch storage is pretty ...

Re: What do you want from Moog?
I've been kind of dissapointed with the trajectory they have taken lately. When Big Briar became Moog Music and started releasing more interesting Foogers and full on synths it was pretty neat. Especially the often overlooked Phatty. That one made a lot of progress between the initial and the final ...

Got me!
I actually always laugh when I see the Doepfer racks with the theremin antennas. It almost seems like it's a fashion accessory more than a function that is used.

Re: Limited Edition Aluminium Voyager - 100 Worldwide
The aluminum one is actually pretty darn close to my ideal as far as esthetics goes. Can a diamond plate model be far behind? Would fit right in with a bunch of Mesa Dual Rectifiers. Maybe a brass version for the steamgogglers. I am surprised we haven't seen a full acrylic case Voyager, that would k...

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?
besides the Theremin was the first real synth. Telharmonium was 1897, Theremin was 1928. ;) Well, the final most popularized version of the Telharmonium was in 1906, and Theremin's theremin had its first working model in 1920 (although I've heard rumors of 1917 as origin). Theremin gained worldwide...
