Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
anyway the point I was so ineptly trying to make was that a drum machine is piece of hardware and a workflow. Okay maybe you can find some way to use swing in a DAW. I was just randomly grasping at features. I actually never use swing, if I want a "groove" I'll play the drums myself. As far as what ...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
Sorry I know this is OT for the thread but. Most Daws dont have a Swing function. I actually don't know of a DAW that doesn't have a swing function somewhere. PT, Cubase, Renoise, Reaper, Ableton live, FL studio and Reason will all do it. for midi of course they have a swing function. But applying ...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
missing the point of a drum machine entirely. I thought the point of drum machines was to make drum sounds. I'm probably wrong though. I've been posting begs for a moog analog drum machine in every "what should Moog make..." thread I have seen. It isn't that I think Moog's old synth drums were anyt...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
Those look cool. I'm sure a lot of people got into analog synthesis via the Moogerfoogers but they are still more pricey than some peopel can afford. A more full-featured analog synth with a price point under $200 would generate a lot of business but again, might be viewed as cheapening the name. I...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
Another way they could go (and this would be controversial) is the affordable route. They could make somethign akin to the cute little boxes Korg is putting out with a similar price point. i know that would "cheapen the brand" and all that but it could also broaden their maket and make them bucket ...

Re: The 10 greatest synthesizers of all time
I see some 'firsts' in specific categories, and because of that they're likely to appear on anyone's list. Like, the first commercially successful FM-synth, the first synth that has preset storage, the first polysynth, the first synth that could be operated by Joe Average etc. I somehow wonder abou...

Re: The 10 greatest synthesizers of all time
nobody can ever make a top ten list like this that will make everyone happy. IMO the jd800 was a mistake. All of the other synths listed have entire product lines clustered around them. The Minimoog spawned dozens of spinoffs for Moog and other companies. The CS80 was the flagship of the CS line etc...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
I would buy a Moog guitar in a heartbeat, if I played guitar. But I am more of a bassist. Unfortunately they dont make a moog bass guitar. I think the magnetic fields needed to do the same thing to a higher tension thicker string would probably sterilize anyone that played it. It seems like Moog onl...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
While having Moog design (and bring to market) a drum machine sounds like a really novel idea for some, I can see it playing out something similar to the following: "We're Moog! We can build anything! Here, have a bit of this!" (insert a huge photo of the new Moog Sub Hammer) ...people on every ele...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
missing the point of a drum machine entirely. Hmm. Because the point of a drum machine USED to be to provide automated drums. It's only been in the last probably 10 years that anyone really gave an f about the extremely subtle nuances provided by analog drum machine functionality. Really? I think a...

it would be nice to have a state variable filter for one. Low pass only gets boring.

... on a forum meant exclusively for giving people GAS for overpriced toys that will be collecting dust 3 months after purchase and to post their tracks that nobody ever listens to? ouch...too true of too many of us. Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued
Whatever Moog does do next, I really hope they pick a better name than "Phatty". seriously. "The Chronic" was 20 years ago. This 2nd hand ghetto slang sounds silly when regular folks use it. Even more so when it's an MI manufacturer. Besides, if it's not ghetto slang it's hippie slang. And we all h...
