buttered beauties by Devo.
Not positive it's a mini, but they own several, including a six osc custom.

Re: Roland should reissue the

personally I'd like to see the SH09 re-issued. I've had one for a couple years now and it is my most reliable, stable, bulletproof synth. And it sounds effing brilliant. The only complaint I have is the lack of a 2nd osc and the rather high gate trigger voltage. System 100 re-issue would be tremendo...

Re: Open question about gear purchases..

I swear a lot of what we see in the used market is due to some dilettante making a purchase fulling expecting it to do all the work of making music for them. There is also the infinite folly of college students with new found purchasing power. I am not going to lie, almost half my used gear once bel...

Yes. Yes, you should.

Well I am working on getting the millionaire industrialist/gambler thing down first.
Then I can worry about releasing products and hit singles that are featured in movies about playing hooky.

Re: Mini xoxbox in development

I'm already imagining two x0xes in one box. X0Xbox 2 ? Wouldn't that be x0x2b0x? or x0xb0x2? Also, x0xb0x squared is still only one x0xb0x. But a square makes me think of four, so reasonably, it might also be four in one box. x0x in s0x on b0x with cl0x? Well I was thinking of you had two xoxes in ...

Re: Open question about gear purchases..

not to mention new synths have gotten quite cheap compared to consumer goods. Price a tablet or flat screen lately?
How about a table top analog synth?

Re: Open question about gear purchases..

I'd also add that if we are comparing vintage to new gear there is one area in which there is no contest. Old gear has old capacitors. In many cases you will have to re-cap the whole beast to get it sounding like new. Now of course there is one way of thinking that the sound of vintage gear is old c...

You guys are giving me GAS again.

I keep vacillating between craving a Blofeld and thinking I can just pickup a used Microwave 2 or some other Waldorf on CL.

Re: where to get a freaking a-frame these days

I guess it depends on what you need the stands for? A frames are certainly useful for home studios or rehearsal spaces. But gigging they are almost impossible. I actually just recently figured out that the Lerberg metal shelf at Ikea is the perfect width for most of my monosynths and drum machines. ...

Re: where to get a freaking a-frame these days

I seriously cringed and threw up in mouth a little when I clicked on that link. So much pain inflicted at the hands of the last A stand I owned.

Re: where to get a freaking a-frame these days

I've given up on A frames. The last few I bought were inexcusable garbage. All of the parts which were glass reinforced plastic on the models you could buy in the 90's are now just plain shitty plastic. One impact, one twist, one overtightened fastener and the piece snaps. My last A Frame ended up b...

Re: Open question about gear purchases..

When I first got into synthesis and playing music in general I could only afford used stuff. Except for pedals and certain expendable music supplies like picks sticks and strings everything else was 2nd hand. My MOTU 828MKII and 3 of my mic preamps were the only things I bought new until recently. T...

Re: Let's talk about wood

First off I hate hate hate those RTA desks. I picked one up used on CL and it drove me bonkers with that bottom platform that essentially serves no useful purpose other than keeping your PC off of the actual floor. I guess that could be a good thing if you live in the flood prone states. But I like ...

Re: If you had $1000 what would you buy?

well for a wee bit more you could get a little phatty
or a dark energy+Dark time.

Though honestly the first thing that came to mind was "demo model A4 from Sweetwater".
