Re: Mode Machines SID

I kind of gave up on muffwiggler forums. Keep having my account suspended if I don't visit the forum often enough. Won't let me make a new account with the old email address. Can't get an admin to unlock my account(s). It's really too much of a pain to bother really. Too bad, when I am in a forum mo...

Re: Mode Machines SID

looks like they are in stock over at B&H Photo. I think I'm picking one up this paycheck. Though I did just buy a Machinedrum... Maybe I should sit on my hands and not buy anything but groceries for a while? Again, I would like to get some clarity on what the box is or isnt.... but in the end...

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

But there has to be a reason why, no matter if it's the record company guys deciding the band's outer image, or the keyboardist himself, that they always looked like the sensitive guy with the most androgyne makeup in the band.. While nowadays, they look just a "badass" as the rest of the band, wit...

Re: X0x CV/Gate yes, sound no.

False alarm. Turns out I was bitten by the "too many cables dangle". Something managed to move the mix knob on the effectron to zero. In some strange parallel universe which exists in effectron particles this means the xox was cut out entirely but the Dark Energy (which loops through the X0X box) do...

X0x CV/Gate yes, sound no.

Weirdest thing happened to me the other day. I was running through some tunes on my drum machine and x0xbox. The first two came off with out a hitch. I select the next pattern on the drum machine(KPR-77) and the X0X (Technology Transplant from big city music). It starts and the CV from the X0X is de...

Re: Modding a synth: disrespectful ??

I would look at it from the angle of whether it decreases the value and/or increases the functionality of the synth. For example, I probably wouldn't mod a MiniMoog Model B prototype but I wouldn't hesitate to mod a Prodigy if the mod did something I needed/wanted the synth to do. What does bug me ...

Re: The Stigma of Synth: My Secret Life with Depeche Mode

I kind of went through the same thing in the early 80's. Bands like Japan, Gary Numan, The Cure and all the "new romantic" groups were just too flamboyant by American tastes. I have never been put off by gayness though. My mom's business partners were gay, as were some of her friends. It was just an...

Yeah I'm not a purist or a chiptuner.
I just like to make retro futurist beep boop sounds.
It also looks super cool. I'll have to get a Doug Henning outfit together.

Re: Who here is ALL ANALOG?

...Midi/FSK syncing/sequencing shouldn't count against my analog dreams! haha, I tried being 100% analog but caved when I realized I could use midi to sync the arpegiator of my Taurus III to the X0xbox. But at least the master clock that the X0X follows is an analog sync pulse from an all analog dr...

Re: Modding a synth: disrespectful ??

I tend to equivocate on this subject. I have a lot of music gear that I've had for quite some time. My main bass guitar and amp have been with me for 20 years. In that time I've moved the strap peg twice, re-built the pickups, and modded the output jack to be more durable. And this is a vintage bass...

Re: Studio Cabin Fever

yeah, that is one of my recurring issues with all of my studios in teh past. I often spend hundreds on gear, but nothing on furniture or ergonomics. I'm mostly caught up on "stuff" so I guess I should work on rounding off the corners of the workflow with mundane stuff like "stands" for things and de...

Re: Using a vocoder live

I use a vocoder for almost all my songs and yeah, it is a pain live. The vocoder gets a lot of it's sound from changing the relatively flat/smooth eq profile of your voice into many narrow peaky bands. It's pretty much DESIGNED to feedback! What I started doing was running it through low pass filter...
