Re: Upgrading the Z80 in a Prophet 600
Also have a problem with my Prophet 600. The sounds keeps going but when i remove the 2 CEM3340's from the 4th voice,it stops and can be played normal again, offcourse with 1 voice less.If i put the CEM3340's on a other voice the problem starts again. Means i have to search for 2 CEM3340's. And also...

Re: Recieved broken synth in the mail, what to do???
Is it that much different than any commonly available string synths like ARP Omnis, Roland RS-09/101/202, Moog Opus-3, Yamaha SK-20/30/50D, or various Crumars?

Re: Modern monosynth prices VS polysynth prices
The DSI polys all use NOS chips made in the 1980's for the heavier aspects of the design, for instance. No, they don't. Though the chip design is related to the CEM 3396 but not the same chip (especially since it has capabilities that the previous ones don't, like a sub osc) but the chips are marke...

Re: Recieved broken synth in the mail, what to do???
I guess you missed it but the buyer already said how it was packed which was clearly inadequate. I would agree it was probably a bad idea to buy a synth from some place like that though.

Re: OB-Xa - unresponsive front panel/keyboard
Yes, it's a very common prob with OBs...I mentioned this back a couple pages in this topic (and in other OB topics)... :D If you have the original 5V bridge rectifier still in here you might need to replace it. Ah glad you figured it out. I had kind of assumed you knew of the common 5V rectifier pro...

Re: What I'd like in a polysynth
Well with all the cross-talk and quoting he probably made an honest mistake on who was tagging him. No biggie. Long as we're dreaming, has anyone done a true analog workstation with onboard effects and a sequencer? Yes, the CS70M. :D Well the effects are limited to a 3-BBD chorus/ensemble. More rec...

Re: What I'd like in a polysynth
Chroma Polaris is the closest you can come to what you want and the best price/performance of poly analogs. Dual VCOs per voice, 6 voices, 8-part multitimbral, sliders/knobs, sounds great (same voice chips as the Xpander), and even has a velocity keyboard (supports polyphonic AT over MIDI).

Re: tempest with prohpet 600 or prophet 08
All the DSI stuff uses the same voice chips. I'd go for something else like a VCO synth instead of 2 of them.

Yes, good advice. You can sometimes get away with measuring the AC ripple on the power lines by setting your meter to AC but a scope is really what you should use...

http://www.shopgoodwill.com/auctions/FIZMO-ENSONIQ-FiZmO-Creates-80s-Sound-for-PROS-12184996.html A Fizmo on goodwill's site. "Not tested, as is," but currently going for $700. Seems ridiculous someone is willing to pay that much for an "untested" unit with broken parts rolling around inside. :face...
