Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
I can't believe people are paying this much for this synth. Sure, it's rare, but it's also too limited to justify this kind of price. But I guess some collectors are just nuts.

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
I'm down with a mini version. If that'll make the price affordable, then great!

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
I'm guessing at least $1,500 if it's made of heavy metal components like the original. Do you literally mean the electrical components? Some sort of old germanium nonsense or something? No, I don't mean the scientific definition of "heavy metal." I mean metal parts like the body, for example, which...

I am really excited.

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
I agree that the timing is pretty...well, awesome, from a marketing perspective. KORG is hoping people will start saving for the new "faithful recreation" of the Odyssey -- which ain't gonna be cheap, folks -- rather than buying Roland's kinda-sorta remakes of their old products. how much are you t...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
Maybe Roland will now reconsider his market strategy... Yes, Roland should. KORG has just eaten its lunch -- again! Look at the timing. AIRA was just unveiled, lots of "oh, that looks kinda cool. I might get that." And now BOOM everyone will be talking about this for months. Roland should hav...

Re: New stuff from Roland!
Roland went with a name that was intended to invoke the 808 Seems pretty obvious to me. Yes, but the other part of my post, which you didn't quote, is the important part. They chose a name that invokes the 808 -- rather than the 909 -- because the 808 is probably Roland's most beloved drum machine....

Re: New stuff from Roland!
If Roland knew that it would/might add 707 sounds, why not name the box TR-X[?] But it's also a TR-909 emulator. So if they're going to add 707 sounds, the name starts to make less and less sense. Here's my guess: the 808 is arguably the most beloved and coveted of its rhythm machines, so in order ...

Re: New stuff from Roland!
Just been reading a topic on another forum i won't link you to cause it's the worst place on the planet for info lol Some seem to think OR hope that the new System 1 will be able to host any old vst/au in future. I mean why would Roland wanna make that possible? That would just spell never ending t...

How'd you get it for $149 below the usual street price of $1,499?!? Are you friends with DJ Ghostdad or something?megamanx wrote:I just preordered mine from proaudiostar, for 1350, cool!

Re: New stuff from Roland!
I thought this was a pretty good demo of the TR-8, TB-3, and VT-3 all being used together. I don't think anyone's posted it yet. His setup is interesting. He says, "TR-3 output is going into VT-3 which is then going into the external in of the TR-8." http://youtu.be/qRv3StxVweo The dude has posted a...

Re: New stuff from Roland!
I dunno, those are all analog and if THOSE ain't good enough, I don't see how this would be and if you craved those sounds... I don't see how you haven't done something about it already. They were "good enough" sound-wise; they were just too expensive. I'm not paying $500 for a machine made from a ...

Re: New stuff from Roland!
I will say this: with the release of the TB-3, the x0xbox/TB-303 clone industry may have died today.
