Re: New stuff from Roland!

I pre-ordered the TB-3 only. I've been wanting a 303 clone for a long time, and this is probably as good as it will get, especially at this price point, which I would call a "fair" price, but hardly a steal like the Volcas. I'm still very much on the fence about the TR-8 based on the videos I've see...

Re: Moog Sub 37

Either way it's not the languages fault that some people are gramatically-challanged, and it's far from being a common usage error, especially compared to more common problems like using the "word" irregardless to mean regardless .... OT: "Irregardless" is a real word. I know people hate it (as do ...

Re: Moog Sub 37

Sooooo who's actually excited for this? I think it'll be awesome to have more tribute editions. Those were always the nicest little phattys. I think the sequencer looks sick too. +1 [he says, in an attempt to get the thread back on track. ] Having an onboard sequencer is always a huge plus in...

Re: Moog Sub 37

The LFO on every model of "Phatty" is digital. Anything that can sync to MIDI clock is going to be at least partially digital. This is also how they were able to add in an arpeggiator to the Phatty series via a firmware upgrade, among other things. So does the Sub Phatty now have an arpeggiator? If...

Re: Moog Sub 37

I do like the 16 preset buttons on the Sub37. Always liked that on the Korg MS2000. Very usefull on a live stage and a feature that was left out on many later preset synthesizers. Ever try to get from preset #1 to #16 back to #8 on a Voyager? Requires a lot of button pushes and menu browsing. The 1...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

. Anyway, I'm still wondering what the price is going to be on these things. High. There is a lot of wishful thinking about "un-roland-like pricing" due to some media speculation/rumors but I can all but assure you that will not be the case. Just look at the hardware. I tend to agree. These machine...

Re: This is not a review of the Korg Volca Keys

The Volca Bass does have portamento (it's called "slide" on the machine). Good to know. Does it just work on the step sequencer though, or can it be active while playing it (w/ external midi'd keyboard)? Both, really. You can set the steps on which you want slide to occur when using the step sequen...

Re: This is not a review of the Korg Volca Keys

I just wish the keys had a step sequencer like the Beats and the Bass. I realized too late to return it but I'll end up buying the Bass at some point anyway. And despite it's lack of polyphony or portamento, the Bass may actually make a better lead synth than the Keys. Once you get the hang of reco...

Re: This is not a review of the Korg Volca Keys

You may have misunderstood me. I was saying despite the Bass's lack of polyphony and portamento, I may find it a more useful synth than the Keys. No doubt though, the Keys is an amazing value. Edit: I see now you were probably replying to the original poster. Carry on. The Volca Bass does have port...

Re: Front Room (Lounge) Jam

I'd pick the OP-1 all the way. I used to think people were bat-shit crazy for paying $800 for a machine that small and without a "real" keyboard. But after buying the Analog Four and experiencing how incredible a relatively small box can be, I've changed my tune a bit. The OP-1 probably isn't a bad...

Re: Waldorf Pulse or Minibrute?

Get a Bass Station II instead. Man, that thing's a beast. Plus, it has way more features than the Minibrute for the same price. Totally apples and oranges. BS2 doesn't have any of the things that make the MB so great; ie VCOs, that filter, the wavefolder, sawtooth animator, CV/gate. Likewise the BS...

Re: Front Room (Lounge) Jam

I call this "couch jamming." I may have stolen the term from Eddie Van Halen, back in my guitar player days. Anyhoo, the Volcas are perfect for this. I've often sat on the couch with the headphones on creating sequences on the Bass or Keys while the wife watched "The Real Housewives of [insert city ...

Re: New stuff from Roland!

Well, I can't really afford the new Elektron box and I'd like to get a drum synthesizer with more controls than an ER-1. So if this is done right and priced right, sounds just fine to me. Don't even care if it's VA instead of analog, it actually just means that it's more likely to be in my price ra...

Re: What synth is used for the pew pew sound in this song?

By the way, I listened to the entire soundtrack last night on YouTube, and almost every song has the "pew pew" sound. I guess Riz Ortolani must've loved it.

Mr. Ortolani just passed away last month, incidentally.
