Re: Beginner question
Walk in the shop with your controller and tell them you're interested in the PSS and you want to see if it works with your controller. There's no way they are not going to let you try it out.

Re: American Airlines Wurlitzer
Heck I remember when they used to give kids little toy airplanes and pin on "captains wings". Not suer if this was all kids, or just the ones traveling by themselves for summer camp. Some Airlines still have wings for the kids - you ahve to ask and the last ones I saw were adhesive-backed plastic w...

That's what I tell my wife every time I walk in the door with another synth...CZ Rider wrote:I think it is written in stone on some mountain top "No synthesizer is a replacement for another".![]()

Re: VSE March Competition: DCO Synths!
As for the chorus counting towards effects count, that kind of sucks. The comp is to compare one synth to the other, the chorus is part of the synth and is a defining characteristic. +1 That Roland Chorus is as much a part of the Roland synth sound as any other parameter on those synths (Junos, JX-...

Yeah, the Click of Death. I've known about it since the late 90s - I heard them talking about it on The Screen Savers on TechTV. I miss that show...
That said, I've yet to have an issue with one.

No Samplers?
I'd take an OB-8 and a Pro-One.
Or a Minimoog and a JD-800.
And then add on a Emulator II for a sampler.

Re: Moving samples
Well, sure, but the same can be said for any vintage gear. And it's a lot easier and a lot cheaper to buy a used Jaz drive than buy or repair a used vintage synth should something break.
And someday, even your computer hard drive is going to die, so backing up your data is the key to happiness.

Re: Moving samples
OK - I've got it figured out. You can drag and drop the Performance file/directory from Object List window (the Zip disk view on the right side window) to the Jaz disk icon in the Container Pane (the window on the left). Pretty simple, once you figure that out. I had been trying to drag and drop the...

Boris would sample that and make a hit song from it.Cybercardinal wrote:I think Boris Blank 1980-84'ish would be my second choice.

It's 10x less pain than Zip disks...
Do you have a suggestion for a better media? Since the S-760 is SCSI, a SCSI to SD card solution is rather expensive. And then I still have to move samples around...

Moving samples
I've got a Roland S-760 sampler with various media formats I've acquired over the years - Zip, Jaz, SyQuest... I've also got Chicken Systems Translator, which does a great job of making disk images so I can back them up on CDs. But I'm looking to consolidate everything on to Jaz disks and I haven't ...

Definitely my Number 1. A close second would be SARM West from about 1982 to 1986 - Art of Noise, Pet Shop Boys, Frankie and many more...Cybercardinal wrote:Kraftwerk!
