Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

Re-boast er, RE-POST. Fully working MiniMoog in a case for $75. Very good! I was just going to boast that I bought a fully working MiniMoog for $195. That was in about 1993 or so, so take that price into consideration. Cheapest synth, and also the lowest price I've paid, was a synth I bought for my...

Re: Stay Positive

I checked out your Soundcloud as well. More nice stuff!

I just can't seem to get into software synths. I guess I've been using hardware for so long, that I just miss the hands on part of touching something. Even if it's menu diving on something, I enjoy that part of it.

Re: Bottom Ten Worst Synths of All Time

I like the K1 and it's little bros the K1r and K1m. I've used them all at different times since 1988. The K1 was the cheapest way to a keyboard with both velocity and aftertouch in 1988. It was 8 part multitimbral, and had D-50 type sounds. It even had several Fairlight sounds in it. It was way bett...

Re: Bottom Ten Worst Synths of All Time

I can't claim it's one of the ten worst, but the FB-01 is the least favorite synth I've ever owned. I even bought it new in 1988. It had a couple of cool sounds, but it really put me off FM synths for a long time! I love the strings on my Crumar Performer, yet I HATE the brass sounds it makes. But t...

Re: Sell everything and grab a CS-80

Excellent advice above! I bought a Fairlight last year after litterally decades of yearning, and it has been a complete joy to learn and play. But I knew it was a big investment going in, and while I could have paid for it by selling a few select synths I already owned, I would have missed them, and...
