Re: LF something similar to POLYSIX SOUND
[...] Korg DW-6000, DW-8000, and EX-8000 are worth mentioning. These are not the Polysix, but are synths with nice analog filters, and are available well under $1000. And they are a lot more "bang for the bucks", if I may say so. I think the Polysix is hopelessly overrated and overpriced -- for a l...

Re: LF something similar to POLYSIX SOUND
How about the Akai AX-60/80?
I thought they were nice-sounding in that P6 sort of way but my memory may fail me... it has been twenty years since I last tried an AX-80.

Re: Anyone else use a lot of Japanese synths?
Most power supplies should be either switchable internally, or they can be re-wired from 110 to 240V, AC and DC (or anything else in between).

Sounds quite unlike anything else in synth universe.
Reminds me of the Sennheiser VSM-201 a bit, especially when stepping through the different frequencies.

Re: Versatile, warm analogue polysynths?
You know, I love the JX3P as much as anyone. Probably more. I've owned three. But "warm?" "Warm?" Does the initialization "DCO" and its subsequent functionality mean anything to you? Nothing that is rigidly in tune can be "warm." That's just not how "warm" in regard to synths works. Yes, even if it...

Re: More Bad Vintage Jensen Capacitors!
Where would I find those Jensen capacitors? Being completely ignorant about electronics, I would guess pre-1970s valve technology, Hammond organs, valve-powered Leslie amps, measuring equipment, radiophonic stuff etc. The only capacitors I have ever run in trouble with were those blue blobs, tantalu...

Not to forget Supermax.
I think he originally was a bass Player anyway.

Re: 60s All Tube Bruel & Kjaer Addiction!
This reminds me of a conversation I once had with Oskar Sala. He pointed out that the 500V required for feeding the valves more often than once gave him a shock when getting too close to one of the voltage rails. The designers of the semiconductor-based Trautonium were in utter disbelief when they s...

Whatever it is, it will be overpriced anyway these days.

Re: Korg/ARP Odyssey. LFO Envelope retrig problem.
When reading all this, I am utterly happy to own an original white-face Odyssey. No need to be bothered with this type of flaws...
How do they get away with this? Hoping all original Odyssey owners from the days of yore have turned geriatric in the meantime, faulty memory and all?

That's he Taurus pedal, I tend to say.Mooger5 wrote:Well, the "bass lead" begins at 04:15. Can the ARP2600 sound like this?
It doesn't say Taurus 1 or Taurus 2 in the gear list but telling from the pitchbends, it must be the Rogue-on-a-stick.
