Re: Synths that didn't impress you
Korg M1 - easily. It's so dead inside. you would have been linched when it was released for such an admission) - but that's the point - it's the most successful synth in history by a country mile. So though you say it's dead inside, it 'did it' for hundreds of thousands of users back in the ...

Re: Synths that didn't impress you
[...] But would be interested in your thoughts on the WSA-1 and whether it's worth picking one up. It depends on what you are looking for. I would say "definitely!" because this instrument is so unlike any other digital synthesizer I´ve played (which weren´t too many, I must confess). If you are lo...

Re: Synths that didn't impress you
My first ARP Odyssey, in 1994. I simply couldn´t warm up to it, and all the time I was wondering why I didn´t like it -- "hey, Klaus Schulze used it to great effect, it must be great!". Sold it in 2000. It was a Mk. 2 (2813). Never missed it. The Mk. 1 is a totally different thing, though. Stephen ...

Re: What synth did kitaro use to create that sweeping sound
As for the SH-2000, I remember a sleeve photo on the back of an album ("Silk Road 3"? Can´t remember as I sold the album a long time ago) where the characteristic profile of the SH can be seen on top of a Jupiter 4 (an oblong square with rounded edges).

Re: What synth did kitaro use to create that sweeping sound
Kitaro had the following synths & keyboards in his "Home recording studio" around 1980-1981: Roland JP4, VP-330, SH-3, SH-5 Korg 700s, 800 DV, PE-2000 Prophet-5 (rev 2) Mellotron Mini-Moog I don't think he used a SH-2000 but I may be wrong about that. There is a very characteristic flute-type of so...

Hi Stephen, Thanks for the pointers. :D I managed to tweek the sounds today within 10mins reading your reply. I see the A and B section and running lights when changing the sounds with the slider...it seems fair okay, but I am still practising to unleash the full power of the synth. Thank you for t...

Actually, it´s a PG-200. The PG-300 is the programmer for the alpha Juno (MKS-50?).
