Re: Moog Sub 37, finaly a new poliphonic Moog?
If that is the case, Roland was inviting confusion, as the prefix "para-" is also used to mean "resembling something but not actually being that thing" (as in "paramilitary,") which is just as applicable to paraphonic synths as the meaning they intended.

Re: New stuff from Roland!
Roland listens to their customers with approximately the same level of attention to detail and damn-giving as a Taco Bell employee.

Re: dw-8000 keyboard
I've had one open, but I haven't done much with the keybed besides try to clean it. I think most of the clacking is the heavy plastic keys smacking against the metal frame of the keybed, so you might put some kind of thin felt strip along the point of contact there, or something.

Re: Hohner String Performer
Yeah, mine needs work as well. I can tell you that the mono section has trimmers to adjust the vibrato speed and depth - they're under the panel, a little ways up from the fine-tune and coarse-tune trimmers (the fine-tune is the one trimmer you can access without removing the panel.) The service man...

Re: Desktop fm synth
Yeah, the TX7 would be a great choice if you don't need multitimbrality, then. Otherwise, you could go for a rack unit and get the TX802 (a DX7-II in a box.)

Re: Desktop fm synth
What all do you want out of an FM synth? If you're just wanting simpler Sega Genesis-like sounds, the Yamaha FB-01 is dirt-cheap, multitimbral, and quite compact; if you want the full DX7 experience, the TX7 is a good bit larger, but is basically a Mk.1 DX7 in a box.

Re: New stuff from Roland!
Oberheim SEM. Moog Voyager (to a lesser extent.) QED.
And I'm not fond of the 808 either, but if it isn't a proper successor, they sure as h**l don't need to be flogging the name (*cough*Juno*cough*Jupiter*cough*SH*cough*.)

Re: New stuff from Roland!
I don't get all the negativity especially in places like gearslutz, at least fun stuff is even getting made and we have the choice to own them. It's so tedious watching people get so distraught that 'Roland has let them down - again' They are like spoilt kids that got a book instead of an Xbox game...

Re: dw-8000 keyboard
Clacky, definitely, but quite a nice feel (a lot like the Yamaha DX7) and good aftertouch response.

Wonder what the price will be, but I'm intrigued. A new duophonic analog would be freakin' sweet.

Oh for f**k's sake. Did anyone tell them that there are already eleven million VSTs emulating exactly those machines?
