Re: Korg Might Be Up To Something.

The only problem with the 2600/moddy-Oddy idea is that if they don't keep the price down there's precious little it would offer that the TTSH doesn't already.

Re: Roland Super JX-10

I'd just open it up (carefully, I'm not sure how complex it is inside) and pull out the keybed. It's a rubber-bubble-strip variety, so it should be pretty simple to pop the keys, take the strips off ( gently , you don't want to rip the little "posts" that hold them against the PCB!) and clean the co...

Re: Yamaha Reface

Uh-oh, people are expressing strong opinions about modern music, that means we're about due for a mod to stomp in and tell everyone to stop being so backwards and elitist...

Re: Yamaha Reface

All I'm saying is that all those "mini-key" analog synths are made for SOMEone. And it certainly isn't the keyboard virtuosos among us. Honestly I think it's questionable to assume that just because a product/design is commonly imitated that it's "for" anyone but the manufacturers. Especially in co...

Re: Yamaha Reface

I don't think they use regular sized keys anymore because the age of the progrock/hammond keyboardist is long gone. Artists more or less use keyboards to trigger arpeggiators and sequencers more than play 6 finger keyboard chops. And the only players who do those things are well into their 50's and...

Not a book, but Gordon Reid's "Synth Secrets" series in Sound on Sound is an absolute gold mine. Here's the index: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/allsynthsecrets.htm

Re: Yamaha Reface

That's true. If freaking Roland could be persuaded to even start dabbling with analog again, I don't see why Yamaha might not be open to gradually working their way back into it.

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

So the ring modulator is digital? Sont get me wrong, I don't care, but I'm surprised based on the age! Well, digital logic is older than even the early modulars. And it wasn't used much in analog synthesizers, but for a budget-conscious monosynth it makes sense, since you can implement a ring-modul...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

That's when all the best synths were made, anyway.
