Re: MS-20 legato
By "legato mode," do you mean that the envelope isn't re-triggering? If you're running it from a sequencer, you should note that the MS-20 (or at least the MS-20 Mini, and I believe the original as well) require a minimum gap between the gate-off of one note and the gate-on of the next, otherwise it...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")
SCSI is usually the way to go for samplers, but I've heard some horror stories about the EPS's SCSI implementation.

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")
I've actually had better luck with the longevity of DSDD floppies than DSHD ones, myself.

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")
The problem with 1.44MB floppies is that a huge percentage of the surviving blanks were made on the cheap and don't even hold up as well as 720KB disks do. Especially beware of the designer-colors ones from the late '90s, those are usually pure c**p. If you have a DOS or Windows 9x PC handy, do a fu...

Re: Help recreating C64 SID chip sounds
Yes, the filter characteristics are at least subtly different on pretty much every C64. That said, it's still a very recognizable, characteristic sound.
(If you're going to try to mimic it, note that it's 18 dB/oct. rather than the more common 12 or 24.)

Re: So I took the C64 plunge
More flexibility. The SID has three voices, but only one filter and master volume control between them. (Though that's less of a problem if you plan to use it as a three-oscillator monosynth.) Adding a second SID gives you six voices and two filters.
