Re: Korg N5
Fairly odd adapter for a Korg because of the DIN-4. https://www.amazon.com/HQRP-Adapter-Synthesizer-Digital-Electribe/dp/B00D2W5C60 I'm guessing if your wrote to Korg UK then you'd prefer something which had a different plug type though. I know HQRP sells a lot of their power adapters with a US to U...

Re: Korg DW-8000 - major static issues
Testing the PSU is always the best place to start, but assuming the nature of the fault was condensation, it's logical to assume it was a short at some random point in any of the boards and not a PSU specific fault. And given that the PSU handles the highest voltages and has the highest tolerances (...

Re: Korg DW-8000 - major static issues
I'm kind of guessing that maybe something blew in the PSU due to humidity and/or temperature? I'd be a little surprised by that since the digital logic is working totally fine, but it could just be that that's more tolerant of poorly-conditioned power to begin with. And if it is the PSU, where do I...

Re: E-MU ESI2000 Internal Drive install
Well, first thing I would do is verify that you're trying to put a SCSI Zip into it and not an IDE Zip. As far as the cabling goes: Yeah... you've got to rig up a custom cable or really hunt around for someone that might have one on offer. It's 100% achievable, but I'd only suggest it if you already...

Re: Using Omniflop to copy EPS16+ disk for use in Translator
Amongst a few others there are options for "Akai S-series image .AKAI" and "Roland S50 image .s50" , but no option to save as an "Ensoniq image" type. There is one option called "Standard disk image .img". Is this the correct one to choose? And do you know of a program that will be able to extract ...

Re: Using Omniflop to copy EPS16+ disk for use in Translator
I am trying to copy some EPS16+ floppy disks to use them in Translator 6 and I am using Omniflop to first read the EPS16+ floppies. It does this fine, and auto-dectects the Ensoniq EPS16+ disk format, but the issue is when I come to write the floppy disk to HD, there is no Ensoniq format listed in ...

Re: Casio RZ-1 Patterns Not saving
I suppose my internal battery is dead. Yes. If you don't replace it then you would have to use the MT jack to back everything up to a WAV/AIFF recording before powering the RZ-1 off, and the use the MT jack to restore the memory after powering back up. Not fun. The "magnetic tape" doesn't really ne...

Re: Recoding separate output
Like the fact that your mixer is summing all its inputs to a stereo output which is going to a stereo input on your audio interface, so the only thing you can record is a stereo signal? :-D Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but my point is that you need an interface with as many discrete inputs as the...

Akai S900 Factory Sound Library
EDIT: I have answered my own question for the most part and have a lot more nowhere-else-on-the-web type information, so I will be updating this thread or expanding to a new one when I have the time. Information about this is very limited, and I can only find hard evidence of six disks for the S900...

Re: K2000 blowing fuses on startup.
Yeah I'm not too keen on replacing them with higher rated fuses but might have to... in the meantime, I have a jumbo sized family pack of fuses to keep me going. WHY WHY WHY WHY do we keep messing around with theses old pieces of junk????????????? (because we love them maybe??) Been there with the ...

Re: K2000 blowing fuses on startup.
The synth is a 250V model and came with short blow 250V / 500mA fuses. I took my synth in to a tech several months ago on an unrelated issue (huge problems with a P/RAM upgrade board ... a gripe and a problem for another post) and the fuses blew while it was on the bench... the tech gave me some lo...

Re: Prophet VS v1.2 firmware download
It would probably be possible to merge v1.0 and v1.2 to get the best of both worlds. Probably wouldn't take that long to cook up if someone had access to both versions.

Re: Casio RZ-1 Custom Firmware
Not exactly firmware related, but I noticed an omission in the Casio RZ-1 Service Manual. On page 27, they list the key scan matrix with the key common signals (KC0~KC7) and the KI lines (KI0~KI5), but--for whatever reason--there is no KC4 shown. I'm fairly confident KC4 should be thus [this would b...

Re: DX7II FD Headphone Hiss and Firmware update
For the firmware, I think it's here: http://dbwbp.com/index.php/9-misc/37-synth-eprom-dumps
You might want to check with a DX7 expert, but I think the one you want is Yamaha_dx7iid_eprom_v1.9.zip. I think that works in the DX7II FD also.

Re: Casio RZ-1 Custom Firmware
Somewhat related: is it just me, or are there some versions of the RZ-1 where you can change the pattern while playing and others where you can't? Does anyone actually know about this? Or have any info on different revisions of the ROMs? Heck, does anyone even have an independent EPROM read of thei...
