Re: Korg Poly 800 wont turn on after battery replacment
ok finally got home to do this! I dont know what im doing! but i can follow instructions perfectly! I checked the D2 diode first. i do sorta understand that a diode lets the electricity flow one way but not the other. But i dont know exactly how to check the voltage flow thru it . i did check conti...

Re: Looking for Lexicon MPX-1 v1.1 firmware!
You're welcome. If your chip is soldered how are you planning to do the update? surely you will have to desolder it first? My Firmware Eprom is socketed so reading it out was very easy (obviously I own an Eprom reader/writer). Edit: never mind, I didn't pay enough attention, now I see you only need...

OK get the service manual Link service: https://elektrotanya.com/korg_poly_800.pdf/download.html There are other sources as well :). Like the links I already posted above ;) But hey, there's no such thing as overkill when it comes to hosting. Never know when something will be taken offline, right? ...

Re: Korg Poly 800 wont turn on after battery replacment
Batteries without soldering lugs can explode if you try to solder them in. You're lucky that didn't happen. In the future I highly suggest getting a proper holder to solder in and then future battery changes will be effortless. You also won't have to worry about a mini-bomb exploding in your face. B...

Re: Kawai PS-101U AC power adapter alternative
I've noticed the variable voltage adapters all go from 9v to 12v with no 10v in between. Yep. If you want an actual 10VDC adapter then you'll have to mail-order something probably. But, like I said, I'm pretty sure your Kawai will happily work off 9V. I don't have the schematics for it, but I'd sus...

Re: Kawai PS-101U AC power adapter alternative
Try finding an authentic (OEM) Sega Genesis 1602-1 AC adapter. I'm not sure of the barrel connector size, but the specs should be correct. The barrel on the Sega adapter is 2.1mm but I don't know if it will physically fit your Kawai Q80. That being said, swing by Wally World (or your favorite depart...

Re: Peavey DPM3 midi sysex spec request
A possible solution to that is to change one letter in the name and then redump the patch. Compare and contrast to the initial dump to the secondary dump. That should be illuminating.

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD mainboard troubleshooting
Replaced Q21 (79l05) (Q12 on vfx schematics) without success. Tried to isolate some part of the -12V line without success, still have -9,18V on the -12V line. Now there is even no light on the Disk Drive... I'm a bit lost, i won't give up but maybe will try to troubleshoot with a second VFX sd if i...

Re: Peavey DPM3 midi sysex spec request
I have another clue in that: F0 00 00 1B 02 01 00 02 7D F7 does something, I think it is one program retrieve, which is not the same code as listed in the V3 spec. Data Dump Request for the Current Program = F0 00 00 1B 02 01 00 02 7D F7 Data Dump Request for the Edit Buffer = F0 00 00 1B 02 01 00 ...

Re: Peavey DPM3 midi sysex spec request
Thanks for that Mr R, but I'm guessing that is possibly an addendum for the DPM V3, there might be a version for the DPM3. Yeah, I knew it wasn't exact but I thought it might get you started in the right direction. As an alternative, would it not be possible to capture MIDIQuest traffic with MIDIOx...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 dead keys
Rainer Buchty has just released some good news about cloning the ESQ-1 keyboard processor. You might want to head over to the Ensoniq Users Group on FB to stay up to date! I had heard rumors about such a thing. I'm super curious how he approached that, and I'm excited someone finally did it because...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 dead keys
Stick a logic probe on the 65002B (aka R1120-12, U1) keyboard controller chip to test pins 4-19. How do they behave? I don't have an ESQ-1 keyboard in front of me to totally break this down with 100% accuracy, but: Pins 31-38 should be the row return from the keybed itself. Pins 4-19 should be the c...

Re: TR-909 - weird, attached, power cable
Same story with most Roland stuff like the D-50 or JX8P too. It's stupidly simple to swap out the funky 2-prong jack for a standard IEC connector, so a lot of people have done that (including me).
I agree that it's almost definitely a custom job. Wouldn't be surprising in the least.
