I'm not sure if this helps you, but:
That's the factory preset cassette tape for the Akai AX73.

Re: Ensoniq Display/Keypad and/or Emu Emax Keyscan Project
Does that SQ80 keyboard controller firmware is also usable for Your VFX? If so then that 6500 eprom readout may be usable for your further reverse engineering? how much far away is that 6500 chip? It seems somehow like 80c51 chip which as the EPROM memory inside too. Does that 6500 has the "write p...

Re: Ensoniq Display/Keypad and/or Emu Emax Keyscan Project
:geek: You got me thinking, I did actually read in the codes destined for the VFD display, it was quite straightforward. I had it where I could see the ascii codes on my PC display, I may just have used MS Terminal app in Win98. I may still have my notes somewhere where I tabulated all the display ...

Re: Ensoniq Display/Keypad and/or Emu Emax Keyscan Project
:geek: I may have mentioned this elsewhere. besides most people now in the internet age expect things for free, a download, so there was no real incentive to do anything further. one set up to read the codes and the other one (with no display) hooked up to a PC so I could test my discovered codes. ...

Re: Ensoniq Display/Keypad and/or Emu Emax Keyscan Project
When was the last time you were in contact with Rainer Buchty? He finished engineering a display kit for the ESQ-1 last year and I think he's working on the VFX and other units as well. If he has now solved this problem then it would be terrific news. If so, there still remains a few questions and ...

Ensoniq Display/Keypad and/or Emu Emax Keyscan Project
In a fair amount of Ensoniq gear (ESQ1, VFX, VFX SD, SD-1, SQ80, et al), the display and keyscan circuit is controlled by an NCR 6500/11 chip. Obviously, there are quite a few proprietary parts/chips in Ensoniq gear that can no longer be sourced without scrapping another machine, and the 6500/11 is ...

Unless you're looking strictly for OEM, they're not as rare as you think. See the notes here:

Re: Dead ESQ-1 help
I'm also curious if you can trigger any sounds via MIDI input. I'm not 100% familiar with the ESQ-1 inner-workings but since the Data Slider can change parameters on occasion then that means the UART can talk to the CPU which indicates that the CPU/RAM/ROM are up and there is at least some traffic t...

Re: Dead ESQ-1 help
If there was a state where the processor, RAM, and ROM were running enough that you could adjust the parameters with the data entry slider but were unresponsive to the keypad then that would indicate a bad serial link. Especially since the keypad displays a button press when you hold them down at bo...

Re: Rack Mount Ears for E-MU ESI 4000
Ah, the elusive ESI series rack ears. Supposedly all units came with rack ears, but I see an overwhelming number of them for sale without the rack ears and getting the ears separately is a rarity. They're usually like $50-60 just for the ears, and you can get one of the low-end ESI models for like.....

Wanted: Line6 POD Pro EPROM / Firmware
Okay, I know this is VSE and not a guitar forum.... however, I know there are a lot of audio hounds with EPROM readers floating around these parts, so it's worth the inquiry. I'm looking for version v1.0, 1.1, and/or especially 1.3 (the last released) of the POD Pro firmware either in binary/hex or ...

Re: Voice Crystal X situation with Ensoniq ESQ-1
I have the plastic case model. The ribbon cable I need is the one underneath the cardboard? The metal model should have the cartridge port built into the left-side of the lid, but the plastic model has the cartridge port built into the upper-left section of the case, the same part that houses the m...

Re: Setup Guide
I believe the Lexicon Lambda will only let you connect those two devices at the same time in mono mode. So you'd take one output from one instrument and one output from the other instrument and connect them to the Line Input ports of the Lambda -- one cable per instrument, one jack per instrument. T...

Price on used stuff is variable, of course, but maybe ZOOM ST-224 SampleTrak or Korg ES-1.
