Re: Portable DAW upgrade from 10 yr old laptop

when I had the crackling issue then only MOTU midi interface was in use and m-Audio with ASIO buffer 336 samples (with 800..1056 samples was it fixed when I had just 3..4 MIDI tracks). MIDI driving makes a system hog? Sounds like the MotU driver is at fault, but I couldn't begin to speculate why. U...

Re: Sound Engineering Techniques for Dance Music

becouse of noisy environment.. why that compression was not even done already in a studio (wait, yeah, there has been loudness war). well, it comes down to even lower than that -- the psychology or belief that the listener stays to the station which plays LOUDER. :D Right? When it is about FM broadc...

Re: how many versions of MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT ?

in other place it was said that the core is the same basically for MIDI Express. But perhaps they did not meant in such detail? but is there a way to get 2 parallel port MIDI Express to work at the same computer? (P.S.: well, there are other quests completed. Re: Sound Engineering Techniques for Dance Music

Why bother?! There is more than just a crappy producer. The next article should be riot about why radio stations mess up all the dynamics for analog radio and digital broadcast too. The broadcast stations always use mp3, multiband compression with their own way and continue to use it. I think THAT *...

Re: how many versions of MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT ?

Motu has been manufacturing midi patchbays since the early 90's and they are still using the same model names. Early units have the Mark of the unicorn logo, while later ones have the classic MOTU. IMHO , motu timepiece AV is the one to get/build. I have never seen any schematics from Motu, good lu...

Re: JV-1010 - not responding on any editor

It has been that the some particular units want to be on a specific channel in order the sysex should work, but still the sysex should work with ANY interface. I had problems with more general approved brand instead. KORG X5DR wanted to be at channel 5, whereas Roland D550 wanted to be at channel 1,...

I must be dreaming... Thank You!
Oldschooldaw seems to me very suitable forum as I would operate with pleasure with oldschool hardware.. errmm if I would get the schematics as well then I would build a clones.

Okay, have to get the PCB out to resolder R5....no way. Anyway, my D110 gives of 5.05 volt, enough for the backlight* we arent afraid of screwdrivers, dont we? ;) Well, my solutions come from me as a result of decades of dealing with electronics, research, prototype engineering and reverse-engineer...

Re: Survey on Analog vs Virtual Analog Synths

cant make the test. The webpage does not open -- too complex. Please make a simple HTML with audio links in it with poll answers. However some thoughts: There are patches/sounds where it is to me no difference if it is the sample/analog/digital/VA synth, if they are carefully made to look alike. But...
