Re: Have synthesizers Improved in 35 years?
got this thought when I read again the thread title... SYnthesizers have improved only its first 10 years (stability, details), the next 10 years they were faked, not improved by design (DCOs, ROMplers), and more than last decade these synths are cheated as they sell and take it back from customer (...

Re: Portable DAW upgrade from 10 yr old laptop
I can't run any new software on my computer, missed the chance to upgrade to the latest maschine software at a decent price, and can't utilize the USB features of some of my gear. On the other side of the coin, that laptop runs editors for a bunch of my hardware synths, including the excedingly pic...

Re: Petition Roland JP-8000 remake(Or at least the panel +FB
Most of the details in your letter are irrelevant like "the JP8K was viewed at the time as the modern digital incarnation of the classic Roland Jupiter-8, from 1981". That's foolish who ever claims that! These synths have nothing in common. Its a hoax just like the ROland said that they used "Jupite...

Re: Petition Roland JP-8000 remake(Or at least the panel +FB
JP8000 or JP8080 is something like a proof that we buy with eyes. When I listened those sound examples then there are really much better VA-synths like those soundwise. Uhh, how someone could read that until the end? Not a respectful company. But I have some suggestions that we could revise the peti...

Re: Have you noticed Roland D50 being so expensive?
"cumbia sonidera and Cumbia villera music" ?!? Very narrowminded thinking, becouse ALL used those patches and these factory presets in the synths. About DX7, M1, D50. These synth patches are used in almost ALL 80s and early 90s pop music, from rock, jazz and pop and italo disco music. Those were the...

troubles with P600 teensy modification
(I ask here at first instead of making for each trouble a new account/password combination on another crappy nuissance whats called forum). Has anyone done that modification and how is the knowhow about that? Made the custom routes with 4 wires as told in the manual from firmware website and cut tha...

Re: Portable DAW upgrade from 10 yr old laptop
Welcome. Thats the blues with "getting a new computer". You have done quite a research about the computers right now I wonder how come that You come too for this conclusion: Actually wondering now if it might just be better to forsake the portability aspect and build another desktop to slave it to m...

Re: Have synthesizers Improved in 35 years?
Capacitors are more stable, less temperature sensitive, have less parasitic inductance, higher breakdown voltages, and the electrolytics are a lot less toxic. Resistors have better specs and less noise -- a lot of the old synths were built with 10% bulk-carbon resistors. I don't know if you...

Re: Have synthesizers Improved in 35 years?
I'm thinking it's because newer artists have a different relationship with these instruments, they admire the material made with them and didn't have to buy them new so for them it's nostalgia and filling the shoes of their heroes while the heroes themselves are probably just pissy they spent the 1...

Re: Have synthesizers Improved in 35 years?
And we still have acres of opinion that, for example, the new Prophet 6 is not as good as the old Prophet 5. With not an ounce of evidence to back it up. God forbid that someone might actually demonstrate the differences with the two synths, instead of endlessly "expounding" (yes, pompous word). NO...

Re: Have synthesizers Improved in 35 years?
I can understand the interface couplings. But when people rave about a Dave Smith analogue at £2k and then I see its the same as one or similar to one from the distant past im thinking is this just good marketing? Oh yeah, I guess the price was taken off from e-bay buy-it-now prices. ANd so they se...

Try to load the modarchive without javascript. ALL websites are much faster if to disable javascript. So they wont bother to contact 101 other websites like googleanalytics and all such . For such purpose on windows and linux environment helps to still keep the old Opera versions like 10.63 where yo...
