Re: Making A Rompler Rancid
An effects processor with a distortion effect. No on board effects in that synth?

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
I was thinking the jet is the tool. Sort of like a hammer with 40 flight gauges on it for like a display, the thrust controls sort of like a pitch bender, multi-axis steering wheel wold be like 6 interlinked virtual knobs, rudder control like a wave form stretching mechanism for beat matching, 200+ ...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
So its like flying a jet across the ocean of creativeness and I've been floating out there on an an intertube with a beer holder. Oh just learn to fly a jet they say. No problem, I say how about I learn to fly the space shuttle too while I'm at it eh? Or better yet, how about you crack the ancient c...

Re: Best Digital Synth to Compliment Analog Setup
Do not get an AN1X, it probably won't compliment a mostly all analog setup and more likely compete with your analogs. It is one of the better sounding analog modelers IMHO with an analog style control surface (sort of), for gosh sakes don't get an AN1X if you've already got a bunch of analogs it'll ...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
Naw the arp only just stabilizes after it is warmed up. Anyhow, it is a good point to learn or set templates up, I just don't think I'm clicking with Ableton. I think I might switch to Cubase. I was liking it for the few minutes I got to use it on a buddies set up. Maybe you just got to click with t...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
I don't know about others with other DAWS, I can't say they all bad for creativity either, however I was talking specifically about Ableton 9.0 that I've been trying out for like the last couple years or so and find myself moving on to other gear. I've not had the time or the patients like I use to ...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
You've inspired me to do just that then next time I'm working on a tune. I must get on Ableton and make a personal starting template. Maybe two, one for live jamming, and a more basic one for simple recordings. That's a plan... cue montage music.

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
Look at all that you did with Jabby, do I have to do all that too on it before I'm comfy. Sounds like it is better to start off with all that stuff ready to go, not really a blank slate, sounds like the idea is kind of to have a template for getting started on it saved instead of re-starting from sc...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
Not knowing how to use any piece of gear is a creativity killer. Fixed that for you. ;) Generally I'd probably agree, I need to use Ableton more and maybe that dread of getting started with something new on it would slowly go away. For me it mostly seems to just be Ableton tho that I get that feeli...

Re: Creative strategies in electronic music
Ableton is a creativity killer. That is the problem and probably why the article even exists. 4 hours on it and all I've done was get the tracks set up and maybe a bleep sound or two. When does the fun start? Looking at a blank new project on it is like having your swim trunks on and looking across ...

Re: What's your favorite synthesis method--
Taking the first default sound that the synth comes on with, like bank A program 1, and modifying it to sound like a distorted tb-303. Why? Because it is the first thing it comes on to, why waste more energy pushing a few more buttons or scrolling more knobs? I suppose this method would probably co...

Re: What's your favorite synthesis method--
Ahhh OK. I'm going to say then PCM based additive (because it usually has more polyphony than most the other methods) with a complex subtractive engine behind it and a decent control surface. Vintage rompling will be the new thing I tell you, it never went out of fashion with me.

Re: Greetings From Yamaha USA Pro Music Customer Support
Seeing how their future of yamaha synths forum went, this is a joke right? Sorry loved Yamaha, I'm one of their biggest fanboys, but they need a lot of making up to do if they don't want to be laughed out of the current synth arena. Please keep some knobs handy because I'll need to order some from y...
