Re: vintage gear needed for electro / industrial music?
Your very own EPS? How funny! Glad you did. I'd say grab it and run. When/if it dies, get something else. I would have to say as long as you're comfortable with your gear, it doesn't really matter what it is - just use it to the fullest extent possible. As Matia was mentioning Adrian Sherwood, I had...

Re: vintage gear needed for electro / industrial music?
I'm going to more or less second what Matia has posted, but with the following qualifications: 1. let us know what/who your influences are, as that will lead to different suggestions. 2. Newer analog gear may be in order, depending on what you want to sound like 3. Budget, budget, budget ... 4. Why ...

There have been a few Edirol 37-key models, too.
I really like that size!

Re: Strangest thing you ever found inside a synth
I've found all kinds of stuff in instruments and amps that have come in for repairs, including some real horror stories. One particular DX7 has come in a couple of times with mud dauber wasp nests in it - luckily the wasps were all dead each time. I'm expecting it back again this spring - it's that ...

Re: Mistery synth, anyone know witch??
I hate to be snobby, but really the only B-52s albums I like are the first two, with Ricky Wilson on guitar. His playing was really inspirational and (for lack of a better descriptor) inspired. He - and his playing - is truly missed! He didn't seem to play as much on Whammy! from what I remember. Pe...

Re: which TREMOLO pedal for my Rhodes ?
If you're just looking for tremolo, then there are loads of boutique pedals out there to look at, too. Of the three you've listed, Cluster, I would have to say I liked the MXR the least. It's been years since I played with it, though, so perhaps they've made some minute changes to it's circuitry? Al...

Re: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz (New Album)
I have to say I heard their first album and immediately went and dug out my old Bush Tetras records. I didn't bother with their second, but I will give this a listen to see what they've come up with. I hope it's interesting to me, as I think they have great promise. I read an interview (not the BBC ...

I love those Korgs! I got my first Kee Bass, hoping to emulate it (it did not). That first Soft Cell album was terrific.
I think that the B-52s used one - a Korg - for a while, too, didn't they? I know they later used a Moog, but I do believe I've seen them with an SB100 as well.

Re: hard disk/cd recorder
You're welcome! Glad to be of service (for what it is!). The Tascam was in fact the RW901 - something he got in a deal and didn't use much. He says it's OK, but he doesn't do any mastering, so he couldn't say about that. As far as listening in the car, CD boom boxes, etc. it works well for him, but ...

Re: hard disk/cd recorder
Thanks, P - that's a lot easier for me to read! I've heard good things about HHB, but it's been a long time since I've either seen them or heard anyone talking about them. I also don't know much about their convertors. I can ask a couple of guys I know about their decisions (they've each got HD reco...

Re: hard disk/cd recorder
Depending on the age of the unit, you may wish to have it repaired. A simple laser replacement may be all you need. I've run into decks at the shop that merely needed a cleanging and alignment, too, so you may want to look into that, too. If that's not acceptable, then I would suggest looking at oth...

Re: Do Audio Demos Affect Your Purchases?
Always good to try before you buy, but I understand about not having something on hand. Still, demos - whether they suck or not - should give you a good idea of the capabilities of an instrument. I often wonder why some do not. Virii are bad, Doc - as an MD, you should have known that! Scott
