Hahahahahahaha - good deal, IB! It really was a good time to be alive - Just wish I hadn't drank so f**k much so I could remember more. But thank f**k at least I'm alive. There are a few people I hung out with who were much worse off than me (more drugs than alcohol) and they didn't make it out of t...

Cabs also used a DX7 at one point in the mid-'80's. Plus they were early users of the Emu drum machine for sampling. IB knows how much I love them! Wire had a great article/interview with them a while back. For now, though, this will have to suffice: http://www.thewire.co.uk/articles/212/ Ther...

No, they are not. Should have caught that earlier. The RS7000 has two pads on the face that are velocity sensitive.

Silly question: does anyone have the video manual? I know I don't need it, but I keep thinking I should at least see it. Maybe there's some trick shown in it I haven't caught? I dunno - one of those obsessions I get, you know? Hahahahahahahaha!

Hmmm ... since I build tube amps, I tend to look for simpler is better solutions. I've got to say, though, that the Machinedrum sure looks nice! For me, I'd be happy to have something like a Oscar, but polyphonic and splittable. The MS-2000 would have been great, had it had just a few more voices. I...

Good deal! After you've spent some time with it, report back and let us know how you're getting on with it.

My favorite things about it were the fact that it had an actual disc drive for storage and not an obscure memory card (MC505 - my pet peeve there) and the fact that I could easily program a "song" across the keys, then play it as I went along, triggering each section as I wanted to. Made it great fo...

Yep! Got a portable unit for $75 that plays 'em all! The coolest feature is that you can set it for either PAL or NTSC, but is also has an "auto" feature so that you just pop whatever in and it sets itself to play. Pop another one in and it adjusts to that. Dunno why you should set it to either one ...

$3999? Well ... I guess I'll have to decide which of my children will have to head back down into the coal mines, eh? Sacrifices must be made, boys! Your old Dad has to have a new toy!

After thinking about my last post, I am a bit concerned that some might think I am advocating bootlegging. I must state that I am most definitely NOT. What I am suggesting is that you buy a copy for yourself, make a player copy and then you can decide what to do with the original. I have several DVD...

I don't know. It will on mine, but I set mine up that way (no regions). Still, there are ocassions when I cannot get something to play on the laptop that I can get to play on one of the cheap players - I'm not sure why that is! My thought? Get it and see. If if doesn't work, there are services avail...

No. For example, if you run a Korg MS2000, Korg DW8000, Roland JX3P, VirusB, Roland SH-32, CZ-101, OSCar, Novation Drumstation, Novation A Station, Proteus 2000, Kawai K4, TX81Z, Yamaha MU90, or Casio VZ-8 through the same setup, they'd sound like s**t.
