Re: # of Polymoogs

My guess given serial numbers is somewhere around 3-4000. And I really wouldn't discount the 280a. It might not have the functions of the 203a but it still sounds fantastic.

Re: CAN MOOG LP OR DS MOPHO DO JOY DIVISION

I don't know where you all live that people s**t string machines but I've maybe seen one or two for sale around here, ever. Yeah they still aren't that expensive on the bay but it would seem the the better ones are getting more recognition... I think the point was that why spend more for a LP when ...

Re: CAN MOOG LP OR DS MOPHO DO JOY DIVISION

This is why you need a Solina to do Joy Division/New Order...

Solina

You can find Solina's for a bit less than a LP also.

Re: Coldplay X&Y Album string sounds

I have a CS-80 and it doesn't sound like that at all. The strings on the coldplay album sound more modern as if from a triton or similar and it's known that they use one. That would be my guess. The only reason people are saying the 80 is because of the picture in the CD booklet. I'm not saying that...

Well what would fit perfectly would be about $1000 more (used) and would be a Nord Stage 88.

Re: Have presets killed control once more?

I don't think its a trend at all. I can name LOTs of recent synths with hands on control:

Korg MS-2000
Alesis Ion
Alesis Andromeda
Future Retro XS
DSI Prophet 8
DSI MEK / PEK
Moog Voyager
Moog Old School
Nord Lead
Nord Wave
Solaris

...and those are in all price ranges

Re: Using a moog ring mod with a synths cv? ext input? help

+1.

If you want a ring mod, 'tracking' isn't going to do anything because it doesn't output the actual frequency to begin with, if that makes any sense... (i'm wording that horribly)
