A limited market perhaps, but not as much as you might think. Honestly, I bet they would sell more of these then they would a modern analog memorymoog (which would be in a similar price range)

Honestly, my opinion is eh. I personally would've kept the JP, although the 5000 is cool.

Yes, that sounds like the oscillators phasing. Just use oscillator sync. I personally like phasing, but not on short notes like that. I like it on long lead lines a la Gary Numan...

I can tell you that the Pro-one does not even have batteries, The SH-101 has batteries, but only to use it portably. The 808 and 909 have two AA batteries that can be changed underneath (with the power on). I'm guessing the 707 is the same way...

you could also get a regular modular and something like a Roland 184 keyboard which has four CV and gates creating four voice polyphony...(providing you have at least four osc's)

I personally would go with the OB-8 in a heartbeat. I was never a big fan of the Jupiter 6 really. I know some swear by it though...

I've had an issue with my encoders, but a quick shot of contact cleaner and they have been like new ever since. AND they are open pots so it was super easy. It took me all of five minutes to get mine like new again.

Thats actually not true. The only curtis chips in the OB-X are the envelopes.

Thats because as far as I know there really isn't much to a VCA. It's just an amplifier.

I have had an OB-X, Xa and 8 (along with a two and four voice) and still have a Matrix-12. They all share some of the same characteristics and I would say that the M-12/Xpander certainly share the same 'Oberheim" sound. Of all the oberheim's the M-12 is the top of the line (to me). Here are some sou...
