Not if it's just an announcement that they'll be (or even just might be) developing something in the future. I was under the impression that the P'08 has been very well received in general, so it's not too great a stretch to imagine they could raise the issue of a rackmount version. But then, we'll ...

I would rather take that money at put it toward a stand along machine.... hmmmmm Reaper is unlimited shareware. You can use it without paying, you just have to wait six s...

...Luckily I sold it for a good price and bought 20 Microkorgs. I linked them all together on a wall about the same size as the Arp, but now I have polyphony galore... pics or it didn't happen  Considering the ARP 2500 didn't use patchcords... I once had an Arp 2500, and I hated it. It was re...

Yes, somewhat cold and brittle. I prefer synths that sound a little rounder.

I have all my synths hooked up to the patchbay in front of me on my desk rack, and from there I patch them into whatever. For recording they go into my 8-channel Soundscape SSIO8-3 interface.

Yeah, the X7000 is sort of like a giant, heavy toy. That's what's great about it though - it's just so simple to muck around on and sounds fantastic in that unique early Akai way. Load up a string sample and it sounds like you're playing an army of 78's.

Also, an EQ will introduce phasing artifacts and other distortions to the sound. Especially if you're using a cheap one.

don't know about the filter.. but I do know that Electr-Harmonix designed the "instant-replay" part of it! ;) Well... sort of. David Cockerell was working at Electro-Harmonix when he designed the S-612, and the technology was then sold to Akai. Or something along those lines, I can't quite remember...

Don't forget the non-realtime compressor either. Great fun to be had squeezing the s**t out of drum loops with it, instant breakbeat action for those so inclined.

Doesn't matter if you're an atheist or not, it's one h**l of a great excuse to spend unwisely. I was planning on getting a TC Electronic Powercore Firewire, but ended up building a new 3D animation rig instead. Cursed priorities... Good thing you waited, because the X8 Firewire version just dropped...

Of course, because a Roland SP will have no problem creating a polyphonic loop-point modulated pad sound with S&H bandpass filter.
