The Roland D50 is definitely NOT a VA, it is S+S synthesis.

When I do change the battery, do I need to back up the original factory sounds or will they be in ROM?

I need the battery changing on my Yamaha AN1x. I did some research on the 'net and found that the AN1x has a "Slip In/Slip Out" battery holder. Does this mean you can just dis-lodge the battery and put a new one in? If so, I would imagine it can be done easily, can't it?

I use the drums from the Roland SH32 plus maybe the EMU XL1 Turbo on all my demos. But when we mix it at my friends studio, because the SH32 is only stereo, we replace the drums with either the Fantom X6, the Yamaha MO6 or we use a VST drum machine to get a wider mix.

Yes I agree - but if you can program it well and take your time, then any synth can sound amazing, even with some of the old synths from the eighties.
