Calyx 93 is right, I've also read that they hired in an Oberheim system (OB-Xa/DSX/DMX) for some of the tracks on "Japanese Whispers". As for the JX-3P, I don't think they had one until late '83 or '84. The music on this compilation album was recorded from Nov 1982 to april 1983. http://hem.bredband...

thank you Micke!
You're welcome :)

My sources for the info are old articles/interviews, studio & live pictures and in some cases the musicians themselves.

Who used the EDP Wasp? The only one's I can think of off hand were Stranglers and Prag Vec. Devo used one early on, too. Who else? Wasp users: The Sound (at least live) Keith Levene/PiL Nick Rhodes/Duran Duran Dave Stewart/Eurythmics Karl Gasleben/Cosmic Overdose & Twice A Man Dave Greenfield/Stran...

I'm glad to hear you liked the RMI demos, madtheory Afaik, Jarre didn't use the RMI Keyboard Computer KC-1 on "Oxygene", he first used it on 1978's Equinoxe along with the Harmonic synthesizer. The "Rhythmi-computer" listed in the gear list for Equinoxe was a rhythm-box --apparently a modified Korg ...

A couple of more....

1976 - PPG 1003 sonic carrier - 1st programmable mono/duo synth (this, along with the model 1020, might have been the 1st synths to use DCO's as well)

1978 - RSF Kobol

There is one interesting synth that I find makes nice strings (close to classic string machines), and it's Korg PS3300. Of course I never seen one, but I have a nice album called Aquarythmies, which is entirely recorded on PS3300 (and some bass monosynth for bass lines) , and it has some nice rich ...

Okay maindeglorie, so I have had a listen to "Perfect Kiss" again, however as far as I am concerned the pads on there are all-Voyetra-8. I've also done some further research to see if I could find any connection between the OB-Xa and New Order but couldn't find anything whatsoever that would indicat...

Thanks for claryfying things, Jexus.

The model 2813 was afaik introduced in mid/late 1976 and came with the then-new Arp filter; the 4075.

The Odyssey pictured in Jexus post above looks like the black & gold version of the mk I (model 2800). Like the white-face, it originally came with the 4023 filter. I don't think it's the same Odyssey that he plays in the youtube video because that one looks like a mk II to me (possibly a model 2810...

That could be a very early unit although the nameplate on the ones pictured in the original RMI publicity from 1974 says *RMI Synthesizer* on it rather than *RMI Harmonic synthesizer*. Also, on the production version "Digital Harmonic generator" is printed on both sides of the front panel above the ...

Yes, the 4023 filter submodule (used in the mk I model 2800) was/is encapsulated but so was the 4035 "moog-ladder" filter that was in the early mk II's (models 2810-2811-2812). Here's a description on how to open an encapsulated submodule for repair (the module shown is the 4023): http://www.arptech...
