Korg DW8000 Patches

Post by Fsaxwas9 » Thu May 04, 2017 1:21 am

Okay, DW8000 fans...

I've been working on a project to get a collection of the most practical sounds in a single bank. I auditioned a bunch of patches from the net including all of the Korg factory ones and some of the others available at Bryan Ressler's site.

After a few (cough) mods and teaks, I've compiled them into a single 64 patch back which you can download from Dropbox. It is a 48khz wav file. There's a few of my older patch banks in the folder as well going back to the late 1980s. Thought I would share a link here as they might be of use to someone.

There's also a crude video of my bad demonstration of some of the sounds where you can hear them. Recorded direct with no outboard effects.

I thought these were some good organ and lead patches and quite a few pads and such. I purchased my Korg new and was always better at programming than playing it. I tried not to use a ton of delay/echo, that's one thing I felt was overdone on a lot of the patches initially. So a lot of the sounds here have just a touch of reverb on them using the built-in digital delay.

the one patch, "Moogy filter" uses the aftertouch a lot... I was trying to get a similar filter mod to the Moog solo on Steve Khan's The Blue Man. You can find that on YouTube. Some of the other sounds are more along the lines of an ARP like you hear on some of the older Genesis stuff.

The thing I found with DW8000, if you want a convincing analog lead if often helps to leave it poly rather than unison mode. The unison mode fattens the sound so much that it changes the quality too much if you're trying to emulate one of the vintage analog synths like Oberheims, ARPs, or Moogs.

Hi
I have a microkorg VA synth.
The waves should be the same as the DW and many others.
Do You Think it is possible to have a few sounds as a parameter list
And a wave file so I Can hear it?
Even one sound Will be enough just to see if I Can do it
I would like to try emulating a DW-8000 or 6000

Best regards
Jens

Wow thank you for this!! I just had mine serviced, including the battery replaced and with that all my Dad's patches wiped :( I found your forum and downloaded the Superbank (dated 10/18/2021) and they sound great! Very usable and I totally agree about the effects. Nicely done! So relieved to start with this great collection and light years faster to tweak existing sounds than programming this whole thing again from scratch. Thanks a million!!
