Korg DW8000 Firmware/OS Bin File

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has tried to read the DW8000's OS rom and could send me the .bin file?

Encouraged by the recent breakthroughs on the Akai AX80, I'd like to eventually figure out and (attempt to) tweak the code to select up to 63 waveforms in a larger wave rom.

I can get it if I don't already have it here. Checking..it's on my HD not my website yet but I'm uploading it now to sounddoctorin.com and the global synth resource link then 'production synths' then 'korg' and 'dw8000' and then the link for eprom code or whatever there. All done. enjoy

Perhaps more apropos would be that someone has already done something like this for the Korg DW-6000.

I too had undertaken the arduous task of doing the same kind of modification on my DW8000 but I've stopped for now because I do not have the basics of low-level programming.

I would like to know someone who has this kind of knowledge to share ideas and maybe succeed in realizing this mod.

Yes, that's exactly what I was referring to. What I meant was that the Akai AX80 uses the same CPU, yes, but Project 72 was the same/similar goal in the same Korg family so it would be a closer success story to take inspiration or ideas from.

Hi there, this is the DW6000 enthusiast speaking My mod is almost complete and soon I will be releasing the patch file. But this is not why I'm here - I'm looking for DW8000 waveform data. I was able to find two bin files with waveforms 1-4 and 13-16. Does anybody have more of them?

I found more files for the Wave ROMs here:

I haven't looked into it yet, but it seems these are the 16 standard waves plus 16 "expansion waves", no idea what expansion that was.

BTW, the mod is done, all I'm waiting for now is a batch of adapter PCBs - once I test them I will release the firmware, schematics and eagle files. Cheers
