Has anybody swapped out the floppy on their DX7 IIfd for a CF card reader? Would be curious to know if it's doable, since it's done on so many other machines...
Thanks for any insight!

yep, i installed usb reader, the only downside is, that to access another 'virtual' floppy image you need to reboot the dx every time as only reads the drive id at power on if that makes sense,? but honestly, not worth the hassle in the end

That's odd. So Yamaha expected you to reboot the synth every time you put in another floppy? Are you sure that's right? The Lotharek (or a flashed Gotek) is the device to go for, not a generic CF reader. They emulate the floppy. With these it is possible to "virtually load" another floppy to the drive, from any of the images you have on the SD card. This would be the same thing as physically ejecting a floppy and inserting another. You just fill up the card with floppy images before you put it in the card reader.

No, Yamaha expects you to reboot every time you put in another floppy drive, which is fair.
