Akai MPC-5000 Triggered by Drum Kat/Pads?

Anybody using an MPC-5000 (or 1000/2500/4000, etc) triggered by a controller, like Drum Kat with pads for live use?

Working on a very tech-heavy live project and considering using my Kat and MPC-5000 to do all the sampled and electronic stuff with a live drummer (instead of a rack sampler, the MPC seems more capable of drum-specific setups).
I'd be curious to hear from anyone that uses a setup like that - any quirks to watch out for, etc.
