Let's play "Fill my rack"!

I can't afford to buy anything new at the moment so I am not looking for genuine suggestions but I thought I'd quite like to hear what other VSE members would put in the last three spaces of my rack. There are three rack 'units' to fill. What would you add, taking into account what's already there? You cannot remove / replace anything, suggestions must be standard rackmountable units and cannot exceed three 'units' in height. Budget-wise, the sky's the limit. Effects, synths, etc. are all OK.

I used the same combination of synth with much fun! The JP-8080 fed a midi patchbay (Roland A-880), which sent the signal to the 3 stated synths. Using the RPS mode of the arpegiator, you could compose song parts in a second, with all the automatic midi layering!

Looks like your setup could use a nice dose of real analog. For really big money, you could add a Modal 008R or Studio Electronics Code/Omega to add an analog polysynth. Or a Studio Electronics SE-1(x) for a powerful analog monosynth. All three are 3U units, so they'd fit. There's a bunch of 2U polyanalogs from Roland (MKS-80, MKS-70, MKS-30, etc. etc.), but you already have some of the Roland sound covered with the JP8080, so that might not be ideal. Have also heard good things about the Oberheim Matrix 1000. Small (1U) and big sound. Would complement your Roland and Yamaha nicely, I think.

You could also put in a small eurorack setup here (84hp with a TipTop Audio Happy Ending Kit), but modular is a deep rabbit hole you may well want to avoid!

A hardware FX box might be nice, too. A million options here. I think you can't go wrong with an Eventide. Surely the most economical -- both in terms of space (1U) and price -- is the Eclipse. I have several FX units, but I know I could really do it all with the Eclipse if I'm being honest with myself. It will add new life to everything you already own.

In your boat, I think I'd go with an Eclipse and two Matrix 1000s (linked and panned hard left/right).

Synth wise, you could wait until Dave Smith Instruments produce a rack-mountable desktop version of the Rev2. Or you could go for the earlier edition, the Prophet 08, in desktop form, and get rack mounts for that. FX wise, if you can find one secondhand, the Line 6 Filter Pro would be my suggestion: no reverb/delay/chorus but some interesting low/band/high pass, guitar synth and vowel shaper options. Very much depends on what type of music you're after.

Other than that - boring options: compressor and/or patchbay, perhaps?
