Hi all
There have been a few posts here and there concerning a high pitched noise that's audible in the headphone and main out of a Deepmind 12... there have been suggestions that it's USB noise but I have a DM12 with the noise and I can hear it without using the synth USB.... some have suggested it's fan noise or a ground loop (it isn't either of these).... someone suggested it's the power supply causing the noise but didn't elaborate.
The noise is a high pitched whine (just like my tinnitus!!) and it has been measured to peak at 6KHz and 12KHz ... apparently it can even be heard on DM12 demos on You Tube if you listen carefully..
Anyway, I was just wondering if any other DM12 owners have the same problem and also ask the electronics wizards in the forum if they think/know what might be the solution.
Apart from the noise, it's a great synth.
cheers

Without opening it up and going over it with a scope and the schematics, it's impossible to say.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Re: Deepmind 12 High Pitched Noise
The pitched noise/whine on mine was coming from the pitch/Mod-wheel illumination. You can turn the light off in the config menu. Now I don't have any unusual noises.

Thanks for the head's up ... I'll try your suggestion and post back with the results (though the illuminated wheels do look kinda groovy)Mesmerised wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 1:42 pmThe pitched noise/whine on mine was coming from the pitch/Mod-wheel illumination. Thanks very much for your help though.
Anyone else in VSE-land with this problem? ... I would have thought the DM12 would be pretty popular (or not?)

Re: Deepmind 12 High Pitched Noise
I haven't asked Gearslutz specifically... I've searched the web for any info regarding this noise and all of the posts on Gearslutz are several years old and all ask the same question as I've asked... no one has posted a definitive answer or fix ... I've also posted on the Syntaur forum page but no joy there either.meatballfulton wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 11:59 pmHave you asked over at Gearslutz?
Gearslutz DeepMind thread 622 pages and counting!!!
Maybe it's worth a crack reposting on Gearslutz as someone might have sorted it by now....
Re: Deepmind 12 High Pitched Noise
Hello,
I was sitting here last night hearing what sounded like a high pitched UPS alarm going off. It was like 4 short beeps then silence for a moment, then it started over. I gave up looking for it @ 11pm @ night was I was too tired to care.
This morning, trying to organize some patches in cubase, I heard it again.
I asked my wife to come help locate it, and it turned out to be the DM12.
More specifically, as she pointed out, the sound was in time with the LFO2 light.
Sure enough, as I adjusted LFO2 the pattern of the noise changed, pitch was constant though.
Curious as I have never noticed this before and have has this about 18m or more.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Re: Deepmind 12 High Pitched Noise
At a guess, given that there are several fixes for this, it would appear that the PCB has a generalised grounding or screening issue.
I would try talking to Behringer on Facebook.
